• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can-Am Armor

TRQ

New member
After obtaining our RTS, my better-half and I bought us each the Can-Am Summer Mesh Jackets. I'm looking now to purchase the shoulder, elbow and back armor. Unfortunately, the Can-Am web site shows the armor as being currently unavailable. Does anyone know a site where I can order it? I've Googled but do not seem to be able to locate any sources. Or, would anyone know any other brands that would fit in the men's and women's Summer Mesh Jackets? Thanks for your words of wisdom.

I had the same intent, and hit the same roadblocks as you. Which is too bad, because I really like that jacket! It's quite versatile for a wide range of temperatures, and with a rain shell over it covers nearly everything except dead of winter.

If you have any luck finding anything, let me know, as I'd be most interested too!

The first gear mesh jackets come with all that armor standard, And for quite a bit less,
But without the free [for Cam Am] advertisement!:dontknow:

Check out your local Harley Davidson Dealer. The armor for HD jackets is of similar size and can be cut to fit. They sell the replacements as well so you can have some to practice with.

Disclammer: As with all Harley Davidson products a second home mortgage may be required prior to product purchase.

I didn't think HD riders wore armor!!!:yikes:

Next I suppose you're going to tell me they sell full face helmets at the HD dealer.:joke:

Radguy, I agree. The jacket does seem quite versatile. I think in our location the jacket would suffice quite well even in winter with just a light fleece underneath it.

Thanks all, for your suggestions.

Pretty frustrating, I'd say! What good is a riding jacket ..... with out armor??!
I've tried many different brands of "convertable" jackets over the past 30 years, and have found the "Tourmaster Intake Series 2" jacket to be the most versatile. The model I have, which is now about 3 or 4 years old, is mesh, with a rain- proof liner and a quilted (warm) liner. It can be worn with none, one or both liners, and has removeable forearm & elbow, and sewn- in shoulder, and spine armor included in the outer mesh shell. I wear this jacket year round, and am totally satisfied with its features and its quality. It's going to be a difficult one to beat. One note: I believe Tourmaster has an improved version of this jacket out, now. And, by the way, they cost considerably less that the CAN AM jacket.
Good luck in your quest,
CapNCrunch

Get a HitAir jacket...unquestionably the best product on the market. A CO2 cartridge goes off when you come off your bike, inflating the jacket...they've been used overseas (like in Japan) for years with an excellent safety record. If you want top protection, airbags are the best way to go...

we hit a deer on our airhead sidecar in 2005 leaving the Harvest Classic and while it tore my first gear jacket up, i suffered no damage to my upper extremities. love First Gear!:clap:

Sorry I can't answer your question. For what they charge the jacket should come with the armor. I too will say good things about First Gear & Tourmaster products. On sale is even better !
