• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CalSci Windshield Issue

Tigger

Added the medium CalSci windshield to the wife's RSS and it did a good job of protecing her body and face. The problem is the wind hits the top of her helmet and her head bobs around like a bobble head above 60 mph. :banghead: She see perfectly over the top of the shield, so a taller one would be too tall. Any suggestions?

Curious, did you contact the manufacturer about the issue?

After reading thru their website, which is very informative and detailed, I'd think they'd do whatever they could to take care of the issue for you. I saw where they even state, if you find the shield isn't the right size, you can send it back for a different size:thumbup:

I've been looking into getting one of these for Teds Red Sled myself, so I'm curious if their customer service lives up to their reputation:dontknow: I hope so and that they get your wife the right size that she needs and she's comfortable to ryde at any speed:2thumbs::yes::2thumbs:

Look into a Madstad bracket windshield...you won't be disappointed...You find your sweet spot thru the adjustments and lock it down...

(edit) A medium may be the wrong size, but the folks at CalSci should be able to provide some guidance. There's an inch or so difference in the sizes and that can be huge.

:agree: There are a lot of viariables when it comes to windshield effectiveness...torso length, helmet selection, distance from the rider, andgle, the machine it is installed on, typical speeds traveled, and even the wind direction and speed. The need to see over the shield, which limits height, compounds the problem. The Madstad bracket can allow you to change some of these variables, adjusting for optimum performance with whatever shield you choose.

You may want to contact CalSci first, and see if they will work with you, finding the right shield. Next I would order just the Madstad bracket, to go with the CalSci shield. I had that arrangement on my '08 GS, until a deer wiped it out.:banghead: but it did work. After the accident, I replaced with the Madstad shield.

I'll keep you posted. We are going to check exactly where the wind is hitting and see if a taller windshield is a solution. We have also heard good things about the Madstad. :shemademe_smilie:Anyone have pictures with Madstad and Calsci?

FYI, the Calsci is very good quality and the hole doesn't whistle or let water in.

Just sent it back for a larger model. Hope this works, if not, robo mounts from Madstad are in our future.

Btw, Mark from Calsci stepped up on the exchange, no questions asked. :2thumbs:
