• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Callling it Quits

Hi redflasher,

Re: Callling it Quits

The reality is that we are all in-line, just behind you; it is only a matter of time.

I'm 75 & my goal is to be riding my Spyder until I'm at 80; only time & health will determine that.

Best of luck wherever the road takes you,

Jerry Baumchen

Sorry to hear about your trials and tribualations. My wife is 62 has had both knees, both hips and 5 lower back vertebrae fused. The back took a year and half to get over and still has to go in for epidurals every 3 months, now she has started up with a pinch nerve in her neck. I understand what you are going through. My brave wife is currently trying to work out a deal with Imotorsports for a 2015 RT special Edition Red trading her 2010 RT A/C in. We are planning a trip next summer to visit our son at Moody AFB, Georgia riding our Spyders.

Sorry to hear you have to hang it up with the :ani29: Do hang around the site though.

Hope your sale goes smooth, fast, and well.

Sorry to hear about your ailments and wish you the best in getting them rectified. I am here to share from personal experience that there are some damn fine knee and hip orthopaedists out there. I have had both hips replaced, nine and seven years ago, respectively. Both my legs are the same length, I have no pain and greater mobility than before both surgeries, have bicycled thousands of miles on the artificial joints and I'm going to ride my Spyder as long as the Big Fellow will allow. The glass is half full! Good luck!

sorry to hear about your problems. stay safe and good luck selling! best of health to you from here on out!!

This thread

serves to remind me that I am highly blessed. I am 79 (closer to 80 than 79) and still able to ride and thoroughly enjoy it. Praise be to the Lord!

Sorry to hear, but hope you find something to fill the void. As said above stick around anyway.:thumbup:

Never say never

The reason that I have an RT is because of a man made knee that some illegitimate ortho butchered. The other knee was done in 2014. Yes, I do have to lift the right leg with my right hand but I still climb on the RT and go for it. This is one of the few pleasures that I still get to enjoy. Don't sell it until you heal. Look at that beautiful motorcycle and let that be your motivation. Keep saying" I will ride again". I'm not telling you anything that I didn't live out.

Sorry to see you go. I was/am looking forward to years yet of riding my Spyder. I'm 62 and just recently diagnosed with serious A-Fib and tachycardia (180 beats per minute). Leaving Saturday for a bucket list ride to see the Fall foliage in New England by way of NC (home state), VA, WV, OH, PA, NY, VT, MA (& Cape Cod), RI, CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD, VA, NC. I just added it in advance to my map. I'll have you with me in spirit my friend.

Hang in and good luck. I am going to ride Mr. Cognac and Punkin' until either their wheels or mine come off....ha ha. On Saturday, I will ride with my group, The Hill Country Road Riders on a 200+ mile ride to breakfast.

The body knows when the body knows. Take care of yourself and hopefully we don't have to much snow this year. (I'm a fellow minnesotan)

If you ever get that itch again, look me up and I'll give ya the keys for a spin. I'm just south of you in Rockford. Take care......

Sorry to see you go, but you can join us all in spirit at least! I hope you feel better. Hope you find something else as fun as this.

Age, arthritis in hands and knees, and general health decline (Age 71+) have made me throw in the towel. Knee and hip replacement in near future. Got my left thumb surgically repaired 18 months ago and now the right one is going south. I'm taking my 2012 RT A&C to my dealer today to be sold on consignment. Craig's List here has about 100 Spyders for sale. No such thing as a classified ad anymore. I just don't want the hassel. Dealer takes 15% which I know is high but doable. This forum has been a lot of fun to follow. I never really had any issues with my Spyder but just can't handle it anymore.

Best to you, sir!!
