Caliper bolts tightening

Well, I took the rear caliper off and I'm going to replace the pads when I get them so I'm putting the caliper back on and I'm looking for how tight to tighten the 2 caliper bolts and I'm not finding it. Anybody know? I only have about 15,000 plus miles pn them, isn't that kinda low? Thanks Mike

My Service manual (for my 2018 RTL) says brake caliper mounting screws 77ftlb +/- 4. Brake Pad screws 53ftlb +/- 9.

I suspect the torque the previous post mentions regarding the brake pad screw is incorrect. If this is the brake pad retaining screw, more likely it is no ftlb, but rather inlb.

As to the low mileage... most of the RT's especially the SE models did get lower mileage on the pads. The ware limit on them is really thin so one needs to check closely or just go for the thicker EBC pads and not risk the metal to metal situation. Now on my RS Sm5 I got 33,000 with still some to go and have 40+ on the fronts. Other RT owners can give you thier results :thumbup:

Thanks, I got the brakes done but with not much alot of strength left and bifocals and working at nite it wasn't too easy. Next time I might remove the exhaust to see and get at it better. The fronts should be easy. Thanks, Mike

Good catch, I would’ve noticed that 53ftlbs would’ve been a bit much. Looked a little closer
