• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

California Scientific Windshield

I'd think it would be a simple question of surface area difference, as that would make the biggest differencesince we aren't really aerodynamic

I think we're back to a wind tunnel question here... If the new windshield reduces the turbulence / disturbance behind, then it would improve MPG, however, if all it does is to move that disturbance away from the driver, well... that could be an issue, depending on where it is moved to.

If I Get a RT I will get another Cal Sci I Like them so much on the GS AND I would take off those side wind deflectors 1st Thing because All they do is hold you back!!

I did not know there were non-OEM options of the RT windshields. This looks encouraging. Regarding rain, I'm assuming that the water would travel up the inside of the windshield and fling itself over your head into your passengers face. LOL

Damnn! Another mod to buy for the RT!

There are several aftermarket and BRP accessory options available.

I guess I simply didn't notice any others Scotty. The stock windshield for the RT is infinitely better than the stock on the RS. Who are the other manufacturers?
Custom Dynamics has a variety of the CalSci shields. ESI doesn't show theirs anymore, though. BRP offers a couple, too.

Do you think that the vent in the shield is actually necessary? There should be lots of airflow under that shield due to the way that it sits out away from the bodywork... :dontknow:
Does that vent decrease passenger turbulence?

They have all the info about their shields, vents and design concepts here: http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Fairing.html#Height

Mine should be arriving next week. Can't wait to try it :D

Fit and finish is excellent. Clarity looks good as weel at least as much as I can see in the garage. Installation was seamless and instructions (on website) were good. Will attempt to post pics although iPad is not friendly to that activity. :gaah:
