• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Buying Advice

I have learned more about Spyders from this forum than anywhere else on or off the internet. If anyone can help, it is the people on this forum.

I need some help. My wife and I fell victim to the Spyder demo tour 3 weeks ago. My wife, who has had 2 knee surgeries and had not touched her Ninja 650R in two years rode an ST and was mildly impressed but not floored. After I dismounted the F3s I told her to buy one. After she demo'd the F3s she agreed. We took it for a 160 mile trip (80 up 80 back) this past weekend and she mentioned she got beat up a bit in the back. She commented on it not being as comfy as my old Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad. Granted, she hasn't been a pillion in a while, but long story short, I wanted a Spyder too and now it looks like an RT-S is the right move. My next issue is timing for best price.

I have a $1,000 rebate certificate from Spyder for doing the Demo ride. It expires in 12 days. I got a local dealer who offered me $25,120 OTD without tax (I don't pay tax on vehicles, long story). The 2014's recently went for about 2k less than that when Can-Am threw out the great rebates. I know that they announce the new models around September and if the deals on 2015's will be as good as the deals are now on 2014's I can wait, probably. Keep in mind that I would lose that $1,000 demo rebate.

So I made you suffer through reading all that to ask this: Has Can-Am historically offered rebates in the September time frame, better than 2k off an RT? If so, I will likely wait. If not, there might be a black (the fastest color) 2015 RT-S in my garage before Independence Day and my pretty 2013 FZ1 will be on Cycle Trader along with the wife's Ninja.

This won't answer all of your questions, but may help. I demo'd a Spyder RT in April and my $1,000 rebate expired in May. I bought a new RT Limited last week ( June 10) and still used my rebate. I was told it was extended until September. Sent a message to the contact on the Can-Am website and was sent the new certificate number the nex day by e-mail.
hope this helps,
Zapps

Based on my shopping experience in Aug/Sep 2014 for an end of model year RT-S I got a big whack, like 5K, on the price because my dealer, 90 miles away, was clearing out inventory in prep for the '15s. Local dealer four miles from my front door would talk nothing other than MSRP. Also got nice discount on installation labor and accessories I wanted on Spyder as part of OTD package. If your primary objective is to save as much money as possible, wait until end of MY and be prepared to travel some.

Remember too, the after buy service and quality of shop work can turn a seemingly good OTD price into a frustrating relationship or worse.

You both need to try the RT models. I'm sure she will love being on the back with air suspension, and backrest. Tom :spyder:

:welcome: While none of us have a working Crystal Ball; you'll have no trouble gettings lots of opinions... :D
Happy shopping, and take a good look at the RTs...

(if we HAD Crystal Balls that worked; we'd all be enjoying our new bikes with our Trophy wives in MUCH moe fun locations!! :()

ADVISE IS LIKE ARM-PITS.... you know the rest....
i've had the RS, and now the F3-S....
if CAN AM only offered the RT, i'd walk... to me it's their 18 wheeler.... in my opinion...
but then again, it's all about YOU, and what you like... demo the RS, SST, RT & F3... most dealer would be more than happy to let you... then make up your own minds which 1 fits your needs best...
best of luck on your decision making...
but i'm here to tell you, the SPYD3R is more fun than 2 ladies and a hot-tub filled with Jello..... :roflblack:

In NW WA state I was quoted $25K OTD and that included a 9% sales tax. for a 2015 RTS. I think that you can find a better deal on a 14. Start calling around the country and play this against "him".

Check out the for sale here too.

I just bought my 2014 RT-S for $ 21899.00 OTD. That included tax, reg., 3 yr B.E.S.T. Extended warranty, everything.

Thank you all for the advice. I think my original post might have been unclear. The $25120 price is on a 2015 RT-S. I'm also partial to the black with white a close second. I had couple quotes, one from a dealer recommended a few times on this forum. The recommended dealer was about $400 less than the local guy (plus free shipping) but at that small a difference I might want to keep the local connection (even though I won't be local when the Army moves me in a year or two).

I'm leaning towards the 2015 for 3 reasons. 1. I'm not really a fan of the cognac or yellow 2014 colors. 2. If I wait until the better deals in September I don't think I would save more than another 1-1.5k while have given up half the riding season to save it. 3. I'm inpatient. OK, I lied, there are 4 reasons...4. I would do better selling my FZ1 in June than in September due to the short riding season in Colorado.

I still not settled on the lower deal from out of state vs the local guy, but knowing 25k out the door is a decent price is leaning me towards the instant gratification.
