Buying a new RT accessories question

I am going to be buying a new Spyder RT SE6 and I would like any advice on buying it. I have a good idea on what to ask for as far as price goes, after searching various forums, however what should I ask for to have the dealer sweeten the pot as far as upgrades and/or accessories? and although I have an idea on price I still wouldn't mind advice on that as well.

Have your dealership throw in B.E.S. T. extended warranty, a laser alignment, and a back rest.

....IMotorsports is a sponsor / vendor on this site , check their AD on the Home Page .....if nothing else it will give you a good starting point at where the lowest prices are.........Mike :bbq:

It varies

I started by negotiating for the bike I wanted. I believe in supporting local business and this was the third bike I purchased from this dealer. I also traded in a 2008 Spyder GS, got a discount and the then current BRP rebate. This got me to an acceptable price for a 2015 RTS-SE6. I then asked for a discount on accessories. I wanted the triaxis handlebars, the comfort seat and backrest and the mount for my Zumo 590. He discounted it all 15%, I think others got more. I asked for a break on the installation. He charged me to install the handlebars at a fixed rate for a couple of hours and did the rest for free. All in all, I got the bike I wanted for a price that was acceptable. Everybody has their own experiences. Good luck with yours.

You might ask about the BEST extended warranty. Go for the full three years.

Must haves IMHO (yep I am a salesman's delight)

My first RT was a 2010. Did not know anything about anything...literally purchased because I feel in love with what I was reading here on Spyderlovers. No dealer close and I like to "deal". So first one purchased as is from IL dealership. I did have him sweeten the pot with the leather can am ryding gear (to heavy..gave pants away and jacket hangs in closet..looks cool, but so not comfortable), Can-Am full face modular helmet (love it), and 1/2 cover. I purchased the 3 year BEST extended warranty from Bert's MegaMall (best deal). After the Spyder was delivered and I became comfortable ryding..2011 I attended my first Spyderfest (again everyone on here made it sound sooooo great)..[fyi I will be leaving to attend #6 in a few days]. And that is where all the "gotta haves" started.
When I purchased my 2014 RTS SE6 I was hooked on must haves. And they are as follows:Corbin Seat with gas door: (transferred from the 2010) BEST extended 3 year warranty (best price and purchased from Pitbull Powersports): Before I took possession of new ryde I had the BajaRon Sway bar; Cup Holders (2); 12 v on dash; Baker Bilt Air wings; Elka front shocks; Cat bypass; 2 Bros Exhaust; Spyderpops Bumpskid and gravel guard; and a bunch of TricLED lights. I considered those MUST HAVES...since I have added the following that I now would not ryde an RT without...seat with Gas Door; JT dash bar where my GPS/PHone, SPOT tracker and TricLED 180' mirror are mounted. Shorty antenna; Hitch to pull the 622 trailer I bought when I purchased the 2014. Yep you get the picture..stripped down model was perfectly fine...but then I saw this and that and now would not want to ryde without.
Pricing? Pitbull Powersports has always given me the best pricing and MORE IMPORTANT I now know that how the Spyder is assembled out of the crate is VERY important to have a problem free ryde.
I am seriously considering the F3t..and these are what will HAVE TO transfer to make the deal. Cat Bypass; 2 bros exhaust; bajaron sway bar; cup holders (will have to get new style..diff handlebars)..and the list is growing longer by the day. :yikes:
And an absolute MUST HAVE is the laser alignment..the ROLO system. The very best to do that are Ann & Joe Meyer owners of Squared Away...they travel to dozens of events across the country to get your Spyders Squared Away...look for them to be near you.

:welcome: :2thumbs:
:congrats: on your recent decision... :firstplace:
:agree: Get the dealer to throw in some additional warranty-time for the bike.
Beyond that; it depends on exactly which model RT you are getting...
If you've chosen the Base model RT; foglights are nice...
Perhaps a backrest would make it more comfortable for longer trips.
Oh! See if they'll throw in some free servicing for you! That could end up saving you quite a bit of cash!

Every Body's Different

Depending on your size you may find Tri-Axis handlebars and Comfort Seat make for a more comfortable ride although every butt has its opinion on the latter option.

Congratulations and Welcome!!!

Here is the 2013 Accessories catalog, in case you didn't pick one up from the dealer. Have at it. RT accessories start at page 85.

As others have said, definitely get them to throw a BRP 3-year extended warranty into the deal. Most dealers will do that to sweeten the deal. As for accessories, I'd personally suggest a comfort seat, if you are tall, unless you will be tight on passenger seat space. In any event get the new adjustable backrest. A helmet, if you don't already have one. The vented windshield and the adjustable side wind deflectors are also nice additions. Generally, I'd stay away from electronics, as those can often be obtained from third party vendors for a lot less money.

you also might want to look at there slightly used invetory at the dealer. You can save some serious money on a Bike that is a year or two old. They also can still can have the factory warenty still as well. Best of luck.

JMO Go used

There are a lot of great low mileage like new 2014 and 2015 bikes out there with a lot of great stuff added that would cost you hundreds of dollars to add to a new bike. Most riders I talk to already have the extended warrentee. That is transferred to the next owner I got my 2014 RT-S with 5K miles on it for 10K less than I would have spent for a new bike and it had at least another 3K of add-ons.
