• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Buying a new engine?

Anyone have information or how you would go about buying a new 998 Engine?

Not that I need to or anything I just want to know.

I have seen posts were people say you can and that its' like $3K or so.
Doing some research I cannot find any factual information as to if it is even true or not!

Thanks,
Bob

According to the local dealership the engine is around $6000, i found out when my 99 blew up and was not sure the insurance was going to step up to the plate, i was ready to order one but the insurance took care of it, totaled it and gave me enough money to buy another one:clap:

WOW...$7,954.49 is a LOT of cabbage! I've seen many a used Spyder for that amount. I think I may be inclined to put that down towards a new Spyder..

EXACTLY! For that I would just keep it as a parts machine or trade it as is and get every dime out of it that I can.

It's a pretty easy motor to rebuild. Replacement parts are easy and fairly inexpensive to come by. Quite a few aftermarket upgrades too. There really isn't a reason to buy a full motor.

economics of scale. Can Am has barely sold 100,000 units, how many 327's do you suppose are out there,1000,000 2,000,000 10,000,000.Anyway there is a lot more demand for 327's then 990's.
