• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am very disappointed after my purchase to learn that I have spent $17,000 to borrow a spyder, and not own one. For my $17,000 I do not get the right to work on my spyder myself because there is no scanner software, and BRP wants to keep a person depending on their Independent dealer for service.

No company I have ever heard of is doing this so it never crossed my mind when I made my purchase that I was caught in a trap.:chat:

GM, Ford, Harley, BMW, Toyota, Honda, and ect all retail a option for people to service their personnel property themselves. But CAM AM is a rare bird that caught me off guard.

Well, sorry but I think you're over-reacting a bit. To work on any modern vehicle takes special software and tools. Do you spend thousands of dollars for the right stuff to work on your Honda?

You can still do plenty of work on the Spyder yourself, and perhaps you can actually buy a BUDS system someday - I doubt it would ever pay for itself if you just work on your own Spyder.

Considering the 2 year standard BRP warranty, I feel not being able to access the Spyder computers is a moot point - the dealer will do it when needed - for free under warranty. Most people got the 5 year deal.

You can do everything else yourself and just let them do the BUDS stuff.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that anything that would require hooking up to BUDS in order to fix should be covered under warranty - so it's a win-win for you. If you buy a service manual you'll see you can do tons of work on the Spyder yourself.

Ride and have fun - let them fix anything that needs fixing under your warranty.

You may want to check with these manufacturers service departments because all of them have proprietry equipment and diagnostics that are only available at the dealership. And don't worry about owning your Spyder, most of ours are bank owned anyway. :roflblack:

I don't know what to tell you, buddy. If you think you have been so misled, sell your Spyder and move on. If the Spyder is indeed in your name then you are mistaken about borrowing it. It's yours. If you think you are borrowing it, then just return it to the dealer and walk away! I don't know of anyone ever believing that their Spyder is "borrowed". If you are such a good mechanic, you can do a lot of work on your Spyder without ever needing a computer program. So, chill, enjoy your Spyder, or if it's such a burden, sell it. You seem very paranoid about nothing!

dealers are independent operators they do not need to honor warranty.

Read the legal fine print, and you will see your dealer is a independent dealer. BRP has no control over the dealers.

Just to correct you about any other auto companies. They all retail scanner, and diagnostic tools to the public. Snap on, Mac, even Walmart retails diagnostic tools.

If you read the service manual as I have cover to cover it requires you to use BUDS to reset the ECU, and purge faults.

:agree: There isnt too much you cant fix yourself, and if you have the B.E.S.T. warranty you are good for 5 years with road side assistance.

nater1 I think it's time to sell your Spyder before you get the handle hater1. You seem to be very unhappy with your purchase looking at the few post you have. Sell it now to get most of your money back. It's obvious you'll never feel good about the Spyder or BRP. nojoke

:dontknow: What the? You can work on your Spyder...

Sorry to disappoint, but your contention holds no water...go buy a Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes and see how much they give you to diagnose problems...the Spyder is electrically more complex than most bikes...it has the most complex of VSC systems...only trained pros should be playing with it...as far as other mods, have fun...we all tinker around with things on the bike...

nater1....this is your 4th post on the same issue. Get over it will you? 99% of the posts on this site are positive in tone...welcome to the 1%.

I like my steak nice and tender :bdh::bdh: :D

After reading other posts, I think someone did some work on their own Spyder - messed it up and is now upset that his dealer won't fix under warranty.

I say we all chip in and buy his Spyder and then raffle it off and donate the proceeds to Whiners Anonymous !

Nate... I too wish I could access BUDDS... however, I knew going in that I couldn't. I did my research and knew in advance what I was getting.

You apparently did not do your own due diligence... sorry about that... but don't try to make the BUDDS issue something it is not. It is primarily a diagnostic tool but is also used to set certain parameters on some sensors.

I perform about 95% of all the maintenance/repair work needed on my Spyder without BUDDS.

Scotty - do you have a reasonably priced 60's bike with points and no electronics for sale?
