• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

but it is just a metal bar?

I have a 2012 RTS SE5 and only had enough money to make a few changes so first came the cal XL windshield my wife and I liked it we had a lot less wind. So next I wanted the Bajon stabilizer bar and links. When they arrived my wife looked at it and said you are spending money to replace one metal bar for another metal bar. I told her everywhere I read this makes a world of difference. The bike shop charged me 4 hours and said they had to take the front off to change it. I also had my shocks set to the highest setting. Well I want to tell you it did make a big difference in the corners you are much more stable then before I am very happy with the windshield and the stabilizer bar. Now I want a laser alignment but I cannot find anyone in northern Wisconsin that does that. Does anyone know where I can get a alignment in Wisconsin??

Really..!!!

4 hours they charged you with the claim the front had to come off. The installation instructions say you don't have to take anything off. I did mine in 45 min. But the main thing is you got it on and have seen the improvement in handling. Enjoy and be safe you will get faster now...!! :2thumbs:

Do you have many other Spyders there? Lamont and Spyder Pops came to Virginia and did alignments for a bunch of us . . . I don't know what the minimum number would be to get someone to come to you . . . but it is an alternative . . . they just need a level flat garage floor.

You did good getting the bar and having someone get you going if you didn't feel comfortable doing the work yourself. Not everyone feels comfortable tearing into their ride; however, don't forget that you have a wealth of information right here at your fingertips. I've installed two Ron bars and I was much more comfortable doing so the second time. Heck, my son-in-law and I even have taken off the frunk for a different project and put it back on. Four hours labor is a bit much so you may be leery of using the same shop in the future. Now go out and enjoy your mods. ...Don

I am very glad that you like the sway bar. It is, to be frank, quite underwhelming visually. But once you ride it all trepidation goes away.

Also, I want to be very delicate here. I do not, in any way, want to make you feel bad. At the same time I want to let others know there is no reason to remove the Frunk on any Sway Bar install EXCEPT for the 2008-2012 RS, GS, RSS models. I've mentioned this before but this is still a problem with some dealerships.

If a dealership tells you they 'Have to take the Frunk (front trunk) off', they simply don't know what they are talking about. Try to get them to read the instructions I send with every bar kit. It will save them hours and save you money. I have even spoken with some service managers at the request of a customer.

I am very sorry that you paid so much for this install. My only purpose here is the hope that your experience and my post will help someone else avoid paying too much for this install in the future.

A friend installed my Baja Ron Sway Bar in his garage, as well as a BumpSkid . . . and no frunk removal was required. The whole process took a couple hours and we did a lot of talking as it progressed . . . could have gone faster. If you have another dealer in the area, start going there, because you now know that your dealer took a horrible advantage of you . . . and screwed you out of cash they didn't deserve . . . in fact, you should discuss this with the owner of the dealership . . . maybe he or she will give you a refund. (Hey . . . it could happen!)

Laser Alignment

Not sure where your at in Northern Wisconsin, but Caswell Cycle in Mora, Minnesota I believe they do the Laser Alignment, you could give them a call or if your not to far away drive over there and check out there show room, lots of items, looks like a very nice place, there not very far from the Wisconsin border, there west of Danbury, Wisconsin. I believe there phone number is 320-679-1383

Yes dealer took me and I did give them the install instructions but he will only do that 1 time. But I am very happy with sway bar.

And this is the best attitude you can have in a situation like this. Believe me, it's happened to all of us at some point.

While it is a shame that ignorance on the part of the dealership ends up costing the customer, it happens. We learn and we move on. It's called 'Life'.

Enjoy your riding season!

sway bar/alignment

Sorry you got nailed by dealer -- it took me 40 minutes to install sway bar -- but I was a GM Master Tech -- so if you arent comfortable doing that I can understand -- just stick to forum -- most questions can be answered here -- also -- Rob's Performance in Johnson Creek Wisc ( 920-699-3288) does laser alignments -- great dealer -- good riding to ya!!

If it were me, I'd still sit down with the dealership owner and have a conversation with him. I'd explain that I was looking forward to enjoying a long-term relationship with his dealership, but I had a concern I wanted to ask about....

The outcome of this conversation should reveal whether this is an honest dealer, and the tech just took the frunk module off in error, or whether you should be looking for a different dealer.

It's also a good idea to post what dealer charges that and save the next person that experience. Good dealers should get a shout out, as should those that aren't.

I'm still glad he likes his new ride

I want a Ron Bar for my "guLp" 2012 RS SE5 , and what Ron said.. the whole Frunk has to come off .. I think that would be the time to add the shock re-locators.

Anything is possible with me. But either something got lost in the translation, or I was not clear.

With the 2008-2012 RS/GS/RSS model Spyders you CAN take the Frunk off if you like. But it is NOT necessary or required.

The thing about these models is that it is so easy to remove the Frunk that it's about 50/50 whether it is an advantage or not.

Upsides-
It makes the bar install easier as it exposes everything you need to remove and re-attach. It's easier to see what you're doing and get to the parts.

Downsides-
It is a little more work and it may take a little longer for the entire process. But probably not much.

This is for the 2008-2012 RS/GS/RSS models only. For all the RT models it is unnecessary to remove the Frunk and I do not recommend it.

For all 2013/14 models, there are no discernible advantages to removing the Frunk and many negatives.

I'd like to believe that the dealer removed the frunk in error. I know sometimes when I do a repair, after it's done I realize their could have been an easier way.
Go back to the dealer and talk to the service manager and show him the instructions. let him know that it should only have taken an hour or less.

But did they

Big question to ask here is ....Did they really remove it or did they only charge for it ?, As we all know , there are some shifty dealers out there .

I do not know if they did this just to make more money or if they do not know what they are doing. I like to think they just do not install them a lot. Better to just forget about it and enjoy the great ride I get now that I have the new sway bar.
