• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BuRP to replace steering on RT's

Dwight

RT-S SE PE#0192
I just got a call from my dealer that BuRP is going to replace the steering unit in the RT's. Anybody else heard this? Supposedly new bulletin released Sept 7. According to the service guy they will send them new units equal to 10% of units sold initially, then piecemeal them out as they use those up. My dealer will notify owners in order of purchase (ours was the first one delivered). Sure hope this is true!

so whats your thoughts on what this will get us? will it make it more linear on turns with the power assist?

I'm not sure what to expect. If my steering remains the same then I'm pretty sure that all of the RT's steer the same and mine isn't any different. That won't make me happy. I see two major problems with the steering, too much assist, and too much twist in the steering shaft before your front wheels begin to turn. The assist should be adjustable, it is in their quads. I was hoping the torque sensor for the steering was in a coupler on the shaft, it would be easy to stiffen the coupler. Unfortunately a look at the shop manual shows the torque sensor as part of the steering housing. I haven't found an online parts book to look closer, and I doubt if I could afford to buy the steering sensor anyway. At least with a new unit it will let me know if its a design fault ( to me, anyway) or not. My dealer and BuRP (although with a little arm twisting) have successfully fixed most of my problems. Now if I could just keep it between the lines I'd be happy. Sorry I can't be of much help with this, and remember these are my opinions.
