• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

bugs (yuk)

Place a wet (hot) towel on the windshield or affected area for several minutes, rinse off with cold water problem solved.

I use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water. Spay on wherever bugs are, let set for couple minutes, wipe clean with WET microfiber cloth, then dry with a DRY microfiber cloth. I have done this for 2 years with excellent results and NO scratches anywhere.

Exactly. Been doing this for years on the bike, truck, and car; Works perfectly. I learned it from a friend in Florida who did this to remove the Florida love bugs from his bike.

If u use a quality wax the bugs shouldnt be too stuck to begin with, then i like to use a bug & tar sponge (http://www.autogeek.net/pinsafscrub.html). And also, i know a lot of u guys are older, or at least old school when it comes to this stuff, but dish soap is bad for paint, and strips waxes/sealants as well. I always use a pH neutral car wash soap at the proper concentrate when doing a conventional wash.

I am a bit over the top when it comes to washing, but it always comes out perfect when done.

Any detailing related questions, feel free to PM me.

Shawn

bug season whats that

we have the lovely critters airborne from jan 1 to dec 31

badges of warning for the critters in my way
i leave them on the lower valance as a warning to the rest lol

Florida Love Bug invasion

There is a product called ?Bug & Tar" remover that is available at auto stores, that works really good.

You might try Plexus Spray Cleaner which is formulated for fiberglass and all plastics. Made and used by Aircraft owners it now has a following among many bikers. Pricey but worth it IMHO.
I never leave home without it, great for touch ups and cleaning at any time. Works on Love bugs so should work on anything.

Lay a wet towel on the windshield for a while and most will come off easily. Hydrogen peroxide can help with the rest. To be honests, almost anything wet does the job. While wet, a fingernail will scrape off the worst ones without scratching the windshield.

Just don't chew your fingernails afterward.

Looks like everybody has there own special bug cleaning products. My favorite is ProtechAll for the windshield. For all the other body plastic; Original Bike Spirts Spray Cleaner & Polish (use to be known as Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish) works great. I have used these products for years.

I just saw a story on the evening news that 17 year Cicadas are going to awaken in the next few weeks in North Carolina. :yikes: That news could actually make me reconsider attending the Owners Event. I can vividly remember a similar outbreak in Illinois when I was a teen. YUCK

Anne,
A quick question: what happened with Nebraska? :roflblack:

Nothing against Nebraska it just hasn't crossed my path yet!

I was just curious; it seems as if you've worked your way around it... ;)

I was worried that it have been something that they said? :roflblack:

Bear in mind that my map has more blank spots than a multiple choice; fill in the box, standardized test! :opps:

I did go through there in a car and they have lots of those CAFOs (Consolidated Animal Feeding Operations) which translates to many stinky miles. Tolerable in a car but could be deadly on your Spyder. :roflblack:

The best defense is a good offense!
