• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP's Updated dealer list

I installed BRP's updated dealer list to try it out and to see if I should abandon the list I have been maintaining.

There is a mistake in the instructions for the Zumo 660. It says

8. Within the "Poi" folder, delete any older dealer poi files with the same root name ("D2245000..."). Do not delete other gpi files.

IMO it should say. My changes in red.

8. Within the "Poi" folder, delete any older dealer poi files with the same root name ("D2245000...") and/or oempoi.gpi. Do not delete other gpi files.

If you do not delete oempoi.gpi file your gps may display the old obsolete dealer data instead of the newer.

I have decided to continue to maintain my dealer list for now for several reasons. My list is bigger covering dealers in Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. I have also found a few mistakes that have been corrected in my list.

As always my dealer list is kept up to date by the information you give me. So please let me know of any corrections, new dealers or dealers that have stopped selling Spyders.

Hi Billy,
Since I'm a complete nit-wit, when it comes to 'electronics maintenance issues" :opps:; how often should I update the list in my 660?
And exactly what are the steps necessary to accomplish this?
(Sorry; Other than knowing that I'll need the GPS on my desk... :dontknow:)
Thanks!

Once a year update would be good enough, except maybe if something changes nearby. The dealer list that came on your Zumo 660 was likely created in 2009. I have not seen a newer version until BRP's recent update release. I have no idea how often BRP plans to update it.

Instructions Windows version.
Download my version or BRP's version from the links in post 2. Pick only one. Sorry can't have both.
Plug your gps into your computer using a usb cable. If you have a virus scanner installed in your computer a window may pop up asking you to scan your gps. Click on no. This may happen twice if you have a SDcard in the gps. If you have garmin express installed just ignore it.
Another window will pop up. Click on "Open folder to view files". This will happen twice if you have SDcard.
In the Garmin Zumo window double click on the "Garmin" folder. Double click on the "POI" folder. Keep this folder open and open another folder you downloaded the file to earlier. Drag and drop this file to the the POI folder window. It will be copied there.
If this is the first time you have done this, find the "oempoi.gpi" file and delete it.
Close all your open file windows and then unplug the usb cable.
You're done.
