• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP trailer wire harness

I read on another thread that someone who used the BRP trailer wire harness had problems with the module and needed to replace the BRP module with a generic one. He was told by his dealer that it happened because he was pulling a non BRP trailer. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I am about to install a BRP Hitch and harness and will also tow a non BRP trailer.

One of the problems with the BRP harness is that they use a non standard connection. First they had a 9-pin round and now they have a 4 pin square. Normal trailers have a 4 pin flat/rectangular fitting. So if you are going to pull a non BRP trailer you will have to change one of the connections.

The dealer is incorrect. There is no difference in function of the BRP module to any other module. Currently BRP is using a Hopkins 5 to 4 isolating converter. Same as is available in auto parts stores as part of a universal converter kit. At one time BRP had a large number of their converters fail. It did not matter what kind of trailer it was. That is when, I believe, they changed to the Hopkins converter. I don't think there have been any problems since BRP made the change.

Thanks Billy, that helps with not worrying about it failing.

Be aware that BRP doesn't warranty aftermarket trailers, only their own, so that is why the dealer probably said that the module failed (looking for an excuse).
