• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

brp suggestion for recall issues

i posted this in the tech talk forum too so sorry if i repeat. a brp rep told my dealer to block the hose to the throttle body to see if that would help with the sputtering, popping and the check engine light coming on several times. :dontknow: my dealer did not know if he wanted me to do it temporarily or leave it that way and did not tell her if i was supposed to clamp it, remove it or what?! how do you block it? :hun: i was amused that he said the ecm remapping was made for the stock setup and maybe i should put my stock pipe back on.:roflblack: i've already tried the unhooking the battery thing but i'm not too sure if i did it long enough because when we hooked it back up all my info was still there-clock, miles, etc....:helpsmilie:

Unhooking the battery will reset the clock but your odometer should stay. I'm not sure if the trip odometers and the trip hours reset or not when the battery is disconnected. If you attempt the battery disconnect "fix" again, leave the battery disconnected for about 20 minutes. That should allow ample time for any power to drain out of the circuits. Just removing the battery terminal and immediately reconnecting it is probably not enough time to discharge all the power in the circuits.

Sorry I can't help on the hose that they want you to plug. The description that you are giving of the hose doesn't immediately ring any bells as to what I've seen "under the hood" of my Spyder.

In the past...

I have seen systems that were controlled by micro processors and cutting all power to them for a specific period of time would correct many problems. Usually you have to cut the power long enough to deplete any internal battery or long enough to drain any capacitor that is supplying power to an internal memory. There is some consensus that disconnecting the does nothing... on another recent thread Lamont said a BRP rep told him it did nothing. Right now who really knows what happens... but if it fixes a few here and there it accomplished something of value.

I'll know more when I get back from N. GA because my sm is going to stay disconnected for about 8 days. We'll see what happens.

Yes, I would be amused also about the stock pipe, especially since the Hindle is a factory accessory and carries the CAN-AM logo.:spyder:

Been down the hindle road and if you talk to BRP, they state it is an after market product and does not fall under the normal warrenty. This is straight from the mouth of BRP.

Yes, that is correct that the pipe itself is not covered with the factory warranty since Hindle has their own warranty. If a factory approved accessory would (for some reason) cause harm to the Spyder (would have to be proven) then the warranty would cover you. IAW my dealer.:dontknow:
