BRP Side Cases

SPYDER STALKER
We are looking at the BRP side cases and would like to hear from you folks who already have them!

Do they go off and on easy?
The description says they hold 2 full face but does each bag have room for two full face helmets?

I love my BRP sidecases---- the initial install is a bit tricky--- but after that they are SUPER easy to remove.

The bags come off in 10 seconds with the turn of a key and the push of a button.

The racks come off it 30 seconds with using a special tool provided. Handy for cleaning the bike or getting back to the sporty look.

As far as helmets---- NO - you cannot fit 2 full-face in each. I actually think you would be hard pressed to fit a full-face into ONE -- but I can't remember trying---- I'll give it a shot tonight with my Scorpion EXO-1000.

I usually use the side bags for clothes, etc.... and then put my helmet in the trunk-- or the rear GIVI case I installed --- or just leave the helmet sitting on the bike.

You can't fit a full face helmet in the side case. We tried putting my helmet in one of your side cases on the Gatlinburg trip and it wouldn't close.

Yeah-- but you've got a ginormous head my friend (to hold your massive brain)--- along with being a tie-dye wearing, drum-playing, purple-handed, goofy ba$tard----:roflblack:.....

Lately I have the memory of a crack-baby for some reason--- I can't remember trying to put your helmet in my bag--- was I trying to steal it?:roflblack:

HA! You forgot "weather checking"! :roflblack: But, I did see purple-handed has been added...

No, you weren't trying to steal my helmet...you had already gotten your ticket by then! (damage done) I think you were trying to prove that it couldn't be done because some person (not "some guy"!) at Smokies said it would fit. :dontknow:

One Full size helmet in each side will fit, not a lot of anything else though.

Bags are very good, installation is a little involved but not bad. (Firefly's pictures will help), the mounting system is great. I think they look good too. You will like.:2thumbs:

I couldn't fit a large EXO 400 full face or a medium Gmax full face helmet in my Givi side cases when I had them. I have no doubt that a 3/4 or half helmet will fit into the Givi cases but it would have to be a tiny full face helmet to fit in there.

I knew I forgot something!!!

BTW--- called today about the ticket---:gaah:

They don't take visa or checks--- has to be certified money order-- or maybe 3 chickens and some goat milk.

And the bad news----- it's $ 105.00 :yikes:.

They'll be getting a nice letter with the money order. Things like this are a pure judgment call by the cop pulling you over--- and this one decided that making $105 for his dept. (Alcoa) was more important than being a good diplomat for MC riders. Another rider got pulled over (twice -- during his ride home to his hotel where his helmet was) for the same thing and got warnings both times. Which looks better to visiting riders-- the nice cops who give warnings-- or officer 'by the book' that nabbed me?

It was 100% my fault--- thus why I'm paying it and admitting my guilt and stupidity--- but it certainly has left a bad taste in my mouth (and many others on that ride) towards the TN police.

I have the BRP bags and they're awesome. Lots of space and served their purpose to/from Gatlinburg last month.

They don't hold my helmet; a Scorpion 1000. However, I use a safeman cable to lock the helmet(s) down: http://www.lockitt.com/CablesBraided.htm#safeman

If you ride 2-up, then you may also want to consider the passenger extension pegs. If you do get the pegs, install the bags FIRST. You need the support bracket from the saddle bags, not the pegs... ask how I know :gaah:

Well the "custom" helmet he won will fit in any of cases.:roflblack::roflblack:
Now he just has to get that bad boy custom painted!

I think it has the volume to store two full face helmets, but because of their shape cannot.

I have the bags and love them. Spent two weeks on the road and in the rain, at the hotel and at some frriends and the bags are just wonderful.

As firefly said, tricky to install, but once this is done they are a blessing.

Givi bags are easily removable, no matter which mounting racks you use. The BRP racks are easily removable, too, using the special tool provided. The other brands f racks are fixed. We are very, very pleased with our BRP Givi bags. They will each hold one of some brands and sizes of full-face helmets, but not all. As a general rule XL helmets and larger never fit, and many L helmets do not. We put the helmet in the trunk. For times when the trunk is full we carry a PacSafe helmet bag in one of the Givis.

I like this much better than the $20 Safeman I bought... I should have asked the board first {sigh}

The waterproof protection w/the locking feature makes this a good value ($59) IMHO.

Thanks Scotty!

I installed mine one Saturday morning ... I didn't have an issue, and I ALWAYS have issues ... usually my wife helps and then leaves cause I get mad. Not this time.

They come off easy, along with the brackets, as easy as advertised.

Helmets, no.

I'll also add--- here is what I had packed in just ONE of mine for my TN trip:

8 Undershirts (under armor)
8 Regular shirts
2 Pair riding pants w/ removable legs
8 pairs of socks
8 pair underwear

Now that's a ton of clothes--- left the other side bag for other items.

The other bag had my Cpap machine and toiletries.

Front trunk had extra shoes, Laptop, 2 quarts oil, 1 quart radiator fluid, 1 quart spray-cleaner and other misc stuff.

Rear top case had full face helmet, rain gear, bungees, tarp, extra sun shields.

Passenger seat bag had tons of tools, jacket, 1/2 face helmet, Battery Tender.

Then small items like keys, wallet, gum, water, etc... went in my BRP tank bag.

I was able to make more room for the way home--- HAD to-----

Had 3 extra shirts going home -- plus another 1/2 helmet! LOL

I was amazed at how much stuff I could fit in all the bags. 7 days on the road--- no need for any laundry service!
