XM was great when it was a stand alone company. Ever since XM combined with Sirius they have gone downhill. I have been a subscriber for many years but I am retiring from truck driving and will cancel soon. Songs repeat on a regular basis and they shuffle stations to different spots on the dial. They drop stations without notice,:banghead:. I will use my phone to play my music in my Sena headset.

Just curious, for those that are worried that they will auto-subscribe you every year and charge your credit card, why not use a walmart prepaid Visa?
What would happen?

I have it in my car. It's almost insane that you can barter with them to get a great deal. They seem desperate for business.
Because pricing always seems to go up, I was able to get a non advertised 5 year plan with internet radio for less than 400.00 by calling them.
If you search sat radio forums, there are people that will tell you how to deal with them. There are even ex employees telling you how to play the game. The internet is an awesome place to find awesome things.

In 2010 I bought two "lifetime subscriptions", one for my home and one for my 2010 Spyder. At THAT time I was told that lifetime meant that I had up to five (5) new radios that I could use to replace for each account. The cost at that time was approximately $450.00 for each.

When I had my accident (2012), and my spyder was totalled, (including the radio), my "spyder radio account" lay dormant until I bought a Venza with XM capabilities for my wife. When I went to transfer the account over, I was THEN advised (and this was the first time I ever heard about this) that there would be a $75.00 transfer fee. I raised hell with the XM person (which in all honesty I had no bargaining position because I had already bought a lifetime subscription and they had all my money), and she was able to get the transfer fee waived.

When I recently bought my wife a new car, I attempted to transfer the "Venza radio" over to the new car and was told that this could not be done. I was told that there were no more lifetime subscriptions for vehicles, and that it only applied to stationary or home accounts. I really started raising hell then, and again go a waiver, but was advised that I could no longer transfer that account, AND that I would have to pay the transfer fee. Reluctantly I did.

The moral of this story is that if you reach any kind of a sales plan with XM/Sirius, get it in writing and signed in blood. These folks have a habit of changing the rules of the game, and without documentation, you are screwed.

Chris PS: I do love listening to XM radio. I no longer have it on my spyder (2013 RT-S) I just use the iplay feature or Pandora or Slacker.

up until Jan 2014, I was paying $56 a year for the XM on the Spyder. I loved it but was told that the XM radio on the 2010 would not work on the 2014, so I sold it.

It would work but you have to unplug it from the entertainment harness. If plugged in it will always try to seek the BRP XM even if not installed. GPS harness only needs 12 volt power and XM40 antennae plus disconnect from entertainment harness. Bluetooth directly from GPS. I did this on the 2013 and will do this on the 14 as soon as I have a need to open it up again. You can also plug ear buds directly into the 660 or 665 GPS.
