• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP reply re surging

After reading a lot of info on the update and the problems involved and discussing it with our service manager, I don't think this is a BRP update problem but a service tech problem. If they don't do the other resets that they are supposed to do with the update, the computer is trying to run the engine with bad input data. If your dealer says they have completed multiple updates without having any owners complain about bad running and they know about the other resets that they are supposed to do, I'd go ahead and let them do the update. They know how to do it properly.

Had not heard about any resets with this update but it does make sense. There is no doubt that BRP has included a step-by-step process for this upgrade.

But knowing mechanics (and tech's) like I do, there are some that are too good to go by the book. I dont' always go by the book either but it can get you into trouble sometimes.

It may have more to do with the different skill levels (and attitudes) of the tech's than with the updae itself.

I know Alcoa Good Times (where Lamont and I got ours done) has completed quite a few updates. I think they said they've had no issues with any of them.

We talked pretty openly about this and other Spyder related things with the Service Manager Ben. He's a pretty cool guy. Seems to have a real interest in the Spyder and what makes it tick.

I like a guy that's not just showroom hype.

Lamont can set me straight if I've got this wrong. He loves doing that! :ohyea:

Way to go brp,not a good time to make your customers mad.At least you do the same thing on the atv end also...........
