• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP replacing windshield arm

NICE VIDEO!

I have not gotten around to installing mine yet and I was going to shoot a video but you did a fantastic job of it.

When I do get around to doing it, I will show how to remove all the covers and stuff to get at it.

Thanks!
Bob

I will post if the design has changed as I know everyone will be interested in this. However I am not holding my hands on my backside expecting a change. As far as a replacement from aftermarket, I do know that it exists, however for my own reasons I choose have BRP replace the unit.

Why not, if they are going to pay for it? You can always get the billet aluminum arm later if it breaks again. Good luck!

Great video, thanks for the detailed info. This is something I will do in the future, seems pretty straight forward. Still waiting for arrival of new assembly, will post when it's done.

Just an update on what is turning out to be a total disaster! First off now I am not happy with dealer service dept. This all started the end of Sept. BRP e-mail instructed me to take bike in to have pictures taken and they will see if it will be covered under warranty. I called two weeks later and was told it will be covered and the part was ordered-they will call when it comes in. End of October I call and ask what the status of part on order is, was told part was shipped and they never received it, it was due to arrive Oct 16th. Service tells me they will order a new one.(I know, it is getting very deep at this point, but I am in a position I have to play their game) Now its the second week of November I call to inquire the status of ordered part, they tell me I have to bring the bike in and they have to get better pictures, which requires taking it apart for better pictures. Ok I tell myself not very good riding weather here, and I have my BMW to ride if we get nice weather for a ride. Dropped bike off middle of November. I called this past Tuesday Dec 2nd. and was told it is out of the warranty dept. hands and in goodwill dept. hands. Now they need pictures. I also scheduled some service, not done yet. Has anyone ever heard of something like this goodwill dept? I know what I want to believe, and this is not it!

Yup! Mine was completely out of warranty, when it was replaced under that program... :2thumbs:
But it took less than a week to get the parts, and about a day and a half's worth of time at the dealers...

Did you ever meet with the service dept head to talk about what is reasonable? Try doing it now and film it. Then, later when they tell you so sorry you can post the experience on line.

Or, perhaps some sunshiners will chime in some good angles to pursue?

Well finally got my spyder back yesterday, 1-22. Unit was replaced under warranty. Sorry to say it is the same design as the one replaced. However the windshield side to side play seems very tight, so something may be upgraded. But its also possible I don't recall how tight it was when new. Happy BRP stepped up, but this whole process started on 9-24-14. Almost four months to the day. No I am not satisfied with that whole process, but at least it didn't start in May! If it had started then I would have been more pro active in calls and visits to get it moving along, so some of it may be on me.

I bought the replacement from Australia - it's a beautiful piece of work, the instructions were top notch, and came with all the extra bits needed for the installation. Good guys to work with, great shipping.

Now, it's something I won't have to worry about.
