BRP Refuses to fix my 2010 RT-S

Correct me if I'm wrong; The timeframes may not be correct...
You bought the bike at least two and a half years' ago... and now you want it fixed?
Wasn't there a two-year warranty on it when you bought it? :dontknow:

I originally thought my old HP Palm Pre was the issue even though it worked in both my Honda Pilot and My Nissan Quest.

About 8 months ago I upgraded to a IPhone 4s and that did not work and finally to a Galaxt S4 and still not working.

And BTW, I have the BRP Extended Warranty till 2016 so fixing this should not be an issue.

BRP kbnows what is wrong and it is obvious they don't care if I ever buy another one. Some company huh?

Accessories do not carry the same warranty as the machine. If I remember correctly they are covered for only 60 (or 90) days unless installed prior to the original delivery and specifically listed on the warranty registration. In that case they are covered only for the period of the original warrnty, not the extended warranty.

Hello all,

I have a 2010 RT-S and since I bought in in early 2011, the Cell Phone Link between the Zumo 660 and my Wired Helmets has never worked. I have tried using the following Smart Phones: an HP Palm Pre, An IPhone 4s and a Samsung Galaxy S4. None of them Work.

Thank you all for replying to this. I have to say I have calmed down a bit since I did my original post BRP Customer Service seems to go out of it's way to pi$$ you off.

After fighting with them for two weeks and not having my bike for over six weeks and missing several great rides, you can understand my frustration.

BTW, I did originally go Bluetooth with Scala G4's which honestly worked very poorly. I need to use the Zumo GPS and I want to listen to my IPOD and the FM Radio and the only way to do all this was to be wired.

If I could do some sort of Hybrid of Wired and Bluetooth, I would jump at it.

Anyway, I know for a fact that BRP has fixed this issue for others and for some reason, they first blew off my Dealer and the Dealer asked me to get involved and then they blew me off.

And to answer one of the Replys' All of my Radio/CB/ICom/ZUMO is Factory Installed and came with the bike.

Again, Thanks for all of your comments.

Marc

Why haven't you had your bike for over six weeks? Did I miss that?

BRP told me the following regarding accessory warranties:

Accessories are warrantied for two years if they are purchased and installed by the selling dealer prior or as part of the initial purchase.

Accessories purchased and installed at a dealer after the initial delivery and not part of the initial sale, is warrantied for 90 days.

Accessories purchased from a dealer or other vendor and installed by owner or non dealer have no warranty at all.

If the accessory has a warranty claim prior to the warranty expiration, the warranty will cover the specific item until resolved.

All items were factory installed prior to purchase of the bike

:lecturef_smilie: You may have purchased them BEFORE it came out of the factory, but the dealer gets the :spyder2: AND the accessories for them to install, not the factory.

:agree: All accessories not a part of a designated model package are dealer installed.

I do not remember see that in the fine print during my sale. So for the OP to be clear which category do your fall under and have you had it in the dealer before for this complaint in the last year or 2?

I have an update!

After contacting the President of BRP by Email, BRP has assigned one of their top executives to look further into this matter and with some compromise, it looks like this problem will be fixed.

I'm still not sure what your issue is.
Are you unable to bluetooth your phone to the Garmin GPS?
Can you use your phone to bluetooth to the GPS in the car cradle ?

I don't know why this thread irritates me so but it does  I don't mean to offend but sometimes, you just can't hold it in...

The OP seems to have the need to talk on the phone while riding. Why?? Cut the cord and enjoy the ride. Distracted driving applies to riders on the phone as well as drivers in their cages talking away. If it is that important, pull over and talk! If not, enjoy the wind therapy.

If you have read my posts about GPS you will know that I am no fan of the audio output of any of the units. GPS is great but you cannot rely on it 100% all of the time. GPS itself is fantastic but as soon as they try to integrate with a street map it no longer works as advertised. Don't get me wrong - I use mine a lot when on a trip (volume is OFF) but those trips are pre-planned using a paper or computer map. I use the GPS to verify my distances, speed, etc. but found it very distracting to be told to "turn right" when there was nothing there but a field of corn or a large building. Mine spends a lot of time "recalculating".

Without a doubt, Bluetooth is the way to go. I don't use it on my RT - the 4 speakers to just fine - but I have in the past and always use it on my Vulcan. SENA has a nice unit that interfaces well with my IPod and the SENA unit has a FM tuner that works well. It will interface with my phone but I didn't install the microphone so there is no temptation on that subject. Sometimes, I just listen to the wind :doorag: As a side note, I recently met a couple that used SENA units to listen to music and to communicate. They both have bikes and claim the range of the units was at least 1/4 mile. They were very happy with the performance and the units are not that expensive.

As for the warranty, I doubt that the wired system is covered for more than 90 days or so. I believe it is considered an accessory, even if installed by BRP.

I hope you find what you are comfortable with but I would highly recommend you enjoy the ride for the ride's sake. If there is a need to have all the gadgets, get a wing or a BMW cage or stay in the office ...

:congrats:
Please let us know what happens next...
But I also agree with "The Captain"... Using a phone while on a motorcycle, is a recipe for a Page One story... :yikes:

Gotta agree with the Capt'n here

We have a set of cardo g9's and when I first got them I tried linking my bluetooth phone mostly to see if it could be done. It can, but on the first ride I had it ring twice and found that I just let it go to voice mail anyway. Stopped for lunch got out the book and unlinked it and it's stayed that way. I ride for a reason and phone conversation aren't part of it. If I remember I check it at stops. I lived with a gps in my work truck for a lot of years found it got me lost often and I too well know about turns that would put you in a corn, bean or wheat field or just a ditch.

Ride and ride safe,
