BRP passenger peg extentions

Just got these BRP passenger foot extensions in this week and installed them. It took a little over an hour to install and it went well. The black support brace is mounted to the bracket on the frame with longer bolts. They are really strong as I am 200 pounds and can stand on one of them with no problem.

Had a passenger today for a 200 mile ride. She liked them and said they are in a much better position than the stock location. They do make it a little tighter to get to the parking brake, not bad you just have to be accurate when you aim for it! The extension is large enough you can rest your foot on them kinda like a skinny floorboard as an alternate position. Glad I purchased them. :2thumbs: Now if I could only get my new seat in to help with the sore .....

Support brackets for BRP bags

The black support brackets are part of the BRP hard bag installation kit, not necessary if you are just gonna use the rear peg extenders. The extenders are well-made but the fasteners are all wrong for use without bags, rear mounting bolt for right side which also is a muffler bracket mounting bolt is at least 10 mm too short. Watch out for spring-loaded 1/4" detent ball shooting across room and disappearing, oh well, had to go to Lowe's for longer bolt anyway. Left extension makes accessing parking brake even trickier, even with sizeable homemade brake pedal extension. Still, a worthwhile addition for passenger comfort, important if you're gonna ride behind your wife! You WILL have parts left over which will become necessary if you mount bags later on. Dealer told me to save parts in box; if I order the bags later on and the bag kit includes to peg extenders, she will refund my purchase cost ($185 inc. tax) and put the redundant parts on the Spyder accessory shelves.

I thought I read the black brackets that were included included with the bags were different than the ones that came with the foot pegs. I believe the black brackets ARE nessecary for the peg extensions. There is a lot more torque when you move the weight forward, it acts like a lever, in other words. As far as the bolt being too short for the pipe to hang on, that is what the extra hole down lower is for. It also lowers the pipe away from the new footpeg location.

The bags do not come with peg extenders.

I had a pair put on last week they are really do extend the passengers feet for a more comfortable ride.

I installed the footpeg extensions and the new seat before the ride to LA.

My wife really likes the new seat and footpeg extensions. We rode for extended times in some brutal heat on the way home from LA. Wife said the ride was great as far as the seat and pegs. This is what the Spyder looked like before we left

I am happy with the purchase.

French instructions

Ah, yes, now I see how the brackets work. I got the French-language instructions and was working from pictures only. Only problem was finding a 17 mm or 11/16 socket for locknuts that would fit into the well in the bracket. Wound up using flange nuts. Brackets allow several foot positions for passenger. Hope lowering the Hindle to fit new position did not disrupt muffler/headpipe joint on which I used Permatex RTV silicone seal.

ha, yeah I forgot about that recessed nut. I had my socket stuck in there pretty good. That could be bored out a little more to accomodate a socket.

Foot Pegs

What I would like to see is a dual position peg. Someone here custom made a set.

My problem with just moving the pegs into a lowered position is if the passenger will have a harder time getting on. With a dual position, the passenger can get on using the higher pegs, then stretch or retract as desired during the ride. I am looking for a solution for my girfriend, she has a bum right knee.

Quite by accident, we discovered a quick solution. With my foot still on the rightside peg, she was able to use the outside of my peg. I am thinking about trying to find a wider peg for my feet that we may be able to share.

I also looked closely at that side and there seems to be a place where the metal behind my peg can be drilled and tapped to add a peg. In the top picture on this post it would be almost in line with where the extended peg is now, where the exaust comes out. If you feel behing that plate, there seems to be a hollow knob that is made to be drilled and tapped.

Any input?

Have you seen the ISCI Passenger Floor Boards? You can also get a special adapter that will allow you to put a custom made peg in up to five different locations. Check out the web page at www.industrialspecialty.com

Well you have some nice solutions there. Quite expensive, but obviously high quality.

I have a Hindle, any fit problems with that for the passenger floor boards?

Also, if I understand this right, if I get the floor board kit for the driver, the bracket is already set up for highway pegs?

Hate to but let me ask.Would the passenger extensions work on the front?I was thinking they would maybe make an alternative foot rest.Okay now tell me I'm wrong, lol.

If you look at the way they mount, the middle is where the peg originally mounted, and the end bolts into a place that does not exist on the front peg area. So I would have to say no. But check out ISCI's floorboards for the driver. They would give you a wider area to place you feet.

I wish I could test these out. They look well made, but I wonder how they are in aggressive cornering. I really depend on the grip of the footpegs and handle grips on some corners.
