• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP Owners Event- Registration Now Open!

Come on guys, I have hauled a horse trailer through Chicago before, it's not THAT bad. You obviously have to time it right. I figure if we leave home around 9:00am that puts us in Chicago after morning rush hours and before everyone gets out of work on Friday. Also leaves us with a good amount of Friday left to enjoy. Besides, it is all worth the effort. Consider the end result. I haven't been disappointed yet in one of these BRP Owner Events. Trust me, the traffic going through Montreal the first year was far worse than any I have seen in Chicago and we survived.
We all know you are fearless, Deb! :D It is that bad to me! I absolutely hate it every time I have to go there. You are right about the timing, though. It can make all the difference in the world.

I fully agree that Montreal is worse (and Toronto isn't so hot, either). Mere survival isn't our idea of a good time, though. We would like so much to spend some time with everyone, but absolutely everything else about the event and the location makes us want to run the other way. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Sorry!

Considering it's also 'Taste of Chicago' that weekend--- it may be like rush hour anytime. I usually take the train into Chicago since you usually are better off walking or using PT once you're there. $10 from South Bend is a deal.

I have registered for the event and made my hotel reservations. I will be staying at the Candlewood Suites near Libertyville on the 25th and 26th. This is less than 10 miles from Lake Villa. The hotel rate is $65 per night.

I may ride down to the Navy Pier for the meet-and-greet on Friday night, but I will not be going to the Taste of Chicago. My knees protest loudly when I walk more than they want me to. I don't think they would like the Taste of Chicago.

I am looking forward to the Lehmann Mansion. This looks like a great place for a motorcycle event. So far, I give BRP an "A" for Lake Villa and a "D" for Chicago's Loop.

I have relatives and friends in Wisconsin and Michigan so I will be expanding my itinerary well beyond the Spyder event. I can't wait to get started.

I highly doubt my wife is going to want to make that trip, but I am going to check and see if I can get away for a few days to be there.

My wife and I are confirmed. Two nights at the host hotel. It will be great to see everybody again. Going to be a long ride though. Can't wait.

That is so great, it will be good to see you and Debbie again. Ride safe and enjoy your trip.

I think Indianapolis would have been a better choice. LSD is not exactly a great place to do a Spyder ride in Chicago and traffic there is a nightmare. Add a huge group of Spyders and talk about going nowhere fast!

Indianapolis isn't such a great place anymore. With the Super Bowl coming in a few years, the entire downtown area is being refurbished. The local hotels and motels are getting greedy; already hiking their rates.:(

We are registered too!

The Hammersmiths are coming too. All registered and reservations made. Only one dilema.....Dont have the time to ryde out there so we are trailering there. someone said that they have a parking area that you get through under the hotel big enough for buses. So it should be big enough for a conversion van and trailer. Does anybody know for sure? Would like to get that settled. :2thumbs:

I believe this is correct.... but I haven't been past this hotel in 2 years.

I would call them and tell them you're with the Spyder group and inquire about parking of trailers... many others need to know about this too.

Glad you can make it!
