• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You talking about taking the ferry got me to thinking that my wife would like that better than riding the Spyder down I-94 into Chicago. But after checking into it, it doesn't make any sense for me. The cost would be somewhere between $267.00 and $420.00. And the time it would take me to get to Muskegon, I could be in the outskirts of Chicago.

Will have to confirm with Someguy if he wants to do the ferry... while standard motorcycles are free during May and June.... that doesn't include Spyders.:( And you still have to pay for yourself ($85 one way, $129 round trip).

Here are the rates for Motorcycles:

Motorcycle one-way $38.00**
Motorcycle roundtrip $76.00**

Motorcycle sidecar (each way) $31.50
Motorcycle trailer (each way) $31.50

Trike one-way $72.00
Trike roundtrip $129.00

** Motorcycles ride free this May and June - limited to standard motorcycle slots on our vehicle deck. A minimum of 12 motorcycle slots are available per departure.

Then you have the rates for human cargo:

Adult one-way $85.00
Adult roundtrip $129.00

Senior (62+) one-way $68.00
Senior (62+) roundtrip $103.00

(this is the newer high-speed one that runs between Milwaukee and Muskegon --- trip time is 2.5 hours)

Upon registering for the event... I find NOT " United States"
What's this " Other North America " stuff...:doorag::roflblack:

My wife and I were in Chicago last year (?) the day after the St. Patricks Day parade. We were at the Hyatt Regency on Wacker right across the river from the Sheraton. Hotel food is very expensive. I discovered a wealth of affordable food literally underground. There were some cheap places underneath the hotel. I loved Chicago! Walked everywhere while my wife was at a nurses convention. Navy Pier was awesome as was Grant Park. I loved the architecture of the Windy City. Went to the top of the Hancock Tower. Maybe it was not the norm, not sure, but downtown was absolutely clean. And for the day after St. Patricks Day, it sured smelled better than New Orleans smells most any day down on Bourbon St. Lake Shore Drive? A zoo.

Looks like we're going to be bringing the big rig so we can bring all 3 Spyders and the T-Rex for Jody's daughter.

Should be a goood time for everybody.

Great city indeed... usually get there at least once a year.

BTW... that's the SEARS tower--- I don't care who bought it and what name they put on it..... to us mid-westerners it will always be the Sears tower.

It's a neat trip to take--- especially now with the new glass-floor overhangs.

Always amazes me that building will sway up to 12 FEET in any direction!

:2thumbs::agree: It will always be the SEARS tower to me too.

Big cities give me a rash.....with or without traffic. I'd love to meet everybody, but not if I am having a nervous breakdown. :yikes:

Yep. We are opting out, also. We would have come down from the U.P. for this had it been in WI, but not in Chicago.

I am sure I might not be the only one thinking of this. For those who might trailer there Spyder's what about parking for the trailers, will the hotel allow and at what cost.

Yeah...wow.... that should go over well.... parking a trailer in a parking structure in downtown Chicago... sounds like a nightmare to me. nojoke

SpyderGirl that is exactly what I was thinking when I thought of it. For this reason I will look into other hotels/motels that is close that will allow trailer parking like one that is on the outside edge of town like a Courtyard by Marriott or such a place with a open parking lot.

Most hotel parking is underground in Chicago, but there is a large outdoor parking area just across the street from the Sheraton (and down 1 level) that you can get to from under the hotel... trucks, buses, etc. park there.

I would check with the hotel for sure, but I'm thinking you can hook up trailer parking over there (perhaps for more $$$). Maybe this is partially why BRP picked this hotel as outdoor hotel parking in Chicago is sparse.

We'll be pretty close to Navy Pier, not so close to the Sears tower...... but cheap public transportation is all over the place.

Can't wait for the fun!

Hey Scotty---- if you don't want to tackle the Chicago traffic (don't blame you one bit)--- you could always leave the bikes home and take the train into town. I've driven to South Bend and taken the South Shore Line into Chicago (only cost $10 !). That way you could at least hang out with everyone and do all the Meet & Greets. I'm sure a ride for you both up to the Lehmann Mansion would be easily taken care of!

Towing a trailer through the "Bowling Alley" does not sound like any more fun than riding a Spyder there. I can't imagine trying the Dan Ryan with a trailer.

Come on guys, I have hauled a horse trailer through Chicago before, it's not THAT bad. You obviously have to time it right. I figure if we leave home around 9:00am that puts us in Chicago after morning rush hours and before everyone gets out of work on Friday. Also leaves us with a good amount of Friday left to enjoy. Besides, it is all worth the effort. Consider the end result. I haven't been disappointed yet in one of these BRP Owner Events. Trust me, the traffic going through Montreal the first year was far worse than any I have seen in Chicago and we survived.
