Well, I just got back from a couple of days at the Americade in Lake George. Today I just wanted to check out all the bikes and see what some of the vendors had and then I just came back home.
Actually, I drove the Spyder up both days. I wanted to make it to the BRP group ride event on Thursday. The weather was perfect for both days and you just can't ask for much better.
I had to hustle to get to Lake George from my place on Thursday,
because the group was meeting at the Clarion Inn at 8:00 am. I needed three hours to get there. I left home around 5:00am. By the time I got fuel, coffee and one break stop on the way down, I managed to arrive at the Clarion Inn by 8:30am. I was just in time for the group meeting and the briefing about the ride. We were being filmed for a video for television. I don't have the details on that. Nevertheless we were being followed and filmed by a camera crew on a red spyder and I think an SUV that followed along the route.
We had a group of about 20 or so Spyders and some had passengers.
Once we arrived in Lake placid we were treated to a wonderful lunch, a nice sandwich buffet, salads, coffee and desert. A couple door prizes were drawn as well, a $250 and $500 gift certificate. We had a nice ride and got to see some nice scenery. The folks that I met were a good bunch of people. A fun time was had by everyone that attended! Thank You BRP for organizing this event!
These are some of pictures that I took of our tour:
It was good to see Mike again!
When we arrived in Lake Placid we had lunch and took a break. We toured the village if we chose to do so, or just relaxed before we headed out again.
We all gathered again for the second leg of the trip. This time we were off to the Whiteface Mountain Vetrans Memorial Highway all the way to the top. This is cool Scenic ride!
We had to pay a toll to enter:
This is lake Placid looking from the top of the mountain. What a view!
This is top of the sumit. you can climb rock stairs to to get to the top. Or take an elevator to the top. The elevator wasn't working on this day. So it was climb on foot for anyone who wanted to go to the top. I decided It was easier not to when I went up several rock stairs in riding boots!
At the top we had to drive through this castle and back around to the parking area.
We rode back down the mountain and gathered to get fuel. At this point most of us went our separate ways. It was a fun trip. I'm glad that I was able to be a part of it for sure!
