• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP gives me cash

well actually a credit of 350.00 towards service or purchase of BRP products at my local dealer .this is to pay for a belt tensioning or whatever , because of my oil pump gear failure .i have come to the conclusion that because i am forced to drive a lot in the vibration zone (under 100km/hr in 5th gear ) that this was probably what caused the destruction of the gears that power the oil pump .after i got it fixed , i started using 4th gear instead of 5th on our local highways(80kmh limits) to keep the revs up and stay out of the vibration zone .the general feeling seems to be that belt tension causes these vibrations but i am starting to question that assumption .the belt speed is dependant on the vehicle speed .the belt is rotating at the same speed no matter what gear you are in .belt speed at 100 kmh in 5th is the same as 100 kmh in 4th gear. i will ask the dealer again about the belt tension but i am pretty sure they already checked it and said it was fine .and i dont know if they had to set it up after they fixed the oil pump .so if the belt has already been done , i can buy something else with my credit .either way , i am happy that BRP is helping me out .

There's more than just bel;t speed that sets up the harmonic vibrations... But you are correct to question this!
Please let us know what they tell you!

Vibrations..!!

checked your profile but don't see what roadster you have...100km/62.5mph in 5th on our RS is pretty much lugging. Seldom hit 5th till over 65mph/104km..good to have them re-check belt tension and we added a belt tensioner. This has helped. Best keeping rpm's well above 4,000rpm's in any gear. Don't see belt vibration affecting oil pump gearing..jmo glad they have come through for you gives all hope...!!

2009 gs se5 .speed limits around here are 80 kmh .cops will let you do 100 .i am 150 km away from any 100 kmh expressway .so to get good mileage i would cruise at 100 in fifth .not really lugging on my bike , it will still accelerate quite well from 100 without dropping down .the problem is without a cruise , i would drop off in to that vibe zone a lot .so now i leave it in 4th on the highway, never in the vibe zone .most people spend most of their time on expressways so they can keep the revs up without ticket worries .no such luck for me .and since no one else seems to have chewed up a set of plastic oil pump gears , it is the only thing i can think of .if you ever see a set of these gears you will realize they are not very robust .and the vibration always sounded damaging to me .we will see how it goes next summer when i expect to be able to get a lot of miles on the bike .the next oil change will tell the tale , broken plastic gears come out as black shards and are easy to spot .
