• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

parts guy at honda east says it is 0W40. brp says to use it as a cool weather oil.
is anyone here using it at all? it doesnt come with a kit like the 5-40 semi does.
less than 10.00/qt. just checking the gurus here on this particular oil.
i have in the past in my vtx and victory used M1 mc oil and rotella t6.
all good oils. rotella is in the honda rubicon and all mowers.

anyone besides jc running rotella ?

also in nw illinois . we have some hot days.

The parts guy is right. The full XPS synthetic 0w40 and the XPS blended is 5w40. BRP in the owners manual recommends the XPS blended 5W40. The XPS lubricants web site recommends both the full synthetic and blended for the Spyder. I sent off an email to XPS Lubricants last year and ask about what I thought was a discrepancy. They replied quickly and told me that both can be used in the Spyder. Extreme long term testing was only done with the blended formula. They confirmed the viscosity difference and that the blend formula is 95% synthetic base anyway.

shaun smoak said the brp training he attended said the blended was 70%
synthetic.

Here is the email I received from XPS Lubricants.

Hi again Ron,

Yes, the recommendation is for both the 1330 ACE engine as well as the Rotax 998.
While we cannot release the formulation, full synthetic XPS 4-Cycle oil uses a precise combination of highly-refined API Group III and chemical-chain poly alpha olefins (PAOs). It should be noted that XPS blend is approximately 95% synthetic with its formulation, while many synthetic blends are as little as 10-15% and still call them a synthetic blend.

well, thats really good to hear. i was happy at 70%.. might as well have dumped in the last
5% and been done with it :yes:

thank you!!

I'm running the Rotella. I chose it on the recomendation of others here--------- AND When i used it on my Yamaha V-Max the shifting improve markedly.
Got about 1000 miles on the latest Rotella oil change and well---- All is well.

For those of you like the Shell Rotella T6 it is currently on sale at Walmart.com for 54.99 for a 3 gal pack. That is $4.58 a quart delivered to your local Walmart with no shipping. I just ordered 2 pacs or 6 oil changes worth.

Since the Walmart sale price on the 6-pack of Valvoline Full Synthetic 4T 10W-40 seems to have the away, this is the way to go.

Why use cheap oil? Don't you know that the more you pay for oil, the better it is. :D I have used Rotella in my Diesels but never in my toys. I personally would consider it inferior to a lot of other brands.

There are many kinds of Rotella. Make sure you check the spec's of the rotella you are buying with the owners manual.

Rotella T6 in both the 15 RT's

I really liked the "blue jug" full synthetic 5W40 for the 40,000 miles I had my Honda, and now that the 1330's have the semi-automatic I am running it in both RT's at 31,000 miles on the one and 11,000 miles total on the other. I switched from the BRP semi-syn after the first service interval...around 10-12,000 on both. I'd rather change early and often to keep the vis numbers good, and the Rotella T-6 is certainly cheap enough at wallyworld or with a $5 rebate per gallon at Oreilly or AutoZone.

The 95% blend on the semi is kind of disappointing. Since the semi did not perform well for me I would not waste my money on the full since there is only a 5% difference in dino oil involved. i obviously will not argue with the "expert", but I am wondering if the 70% that Shawn spoke about was correct. Why even have a blended if it is only 5% dino oil. It would be awesome is someone could verify that 95%. I am calling possible BS.

Rosella may be cheap oil,I don't know I never used it.Rotella T6 is good oil cheap, there is a difference. It meets all the specs, I have used it for years and thousands of miles in my motorcycles and never had an engine problem. I am not going to spend big bucks for an oil I am going to dump in 4000mi. At that mileage change interval you could almost run Olive Oil.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
