• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brp connect

No matter how I try it won’t work on my 2020 RT Limited. Keeps saying be sure BPR conect is turned on and in range. Help!!

Your phone has to be plugged in to the glove box USB cable AND BT'ed to the bike. If your bike doesn't have the latest firmware (30.7), have your dealer update.

You need to go into the settings and connect the phone and headsets to the bluetooth part of the dash. Then plug the phone to the USB in the glove box.

See if this helps.

In addition to all the above requirements, you MUST also unlock your phone before you connect it.

Why in the world did they not use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay????? BRP Connect has probably peaked as far as applications, and is not fully stable. I look back and wish I'd grabbed a 2017 instead of a 2018....

Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay require a 7" screen to work. The 2018+ screens are actually 2 screens, neither of which is anywhere close to 7". If they would make the screen bigger (which I think they will eventually once they realize they're not making enough money off of the BRP Connect apps), both would work well and they'd have a lot of happier customers. They might even get MORE customers. Nobody really wants to spend $30k on a bike THEN have to spend another $100 here and there to get proprietary apps that only work sometimes. Could be BRP has a contract w/the app companies and can't do anything until those expire. If BRP is smart (and I'm not saying they are), they won't renew those contracts and develop a screen big enough for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I was intrigued by the BRP Connect until I got it and realized what a POC it was.

And you must have a really good phone cable or it can’t communicate.

In addition you must sacrifice 2 goats and a virgin to BRP, the God of Highways....

But I just wanta be able to get on, turn the key, and ryde my Spyder!! :banghead:

Back some time ago now, BRP made us this potentially really fantastic machine that could (might??) be a blast to ryde, but then they started stuffing it up by letting these machines hit the streets before they've got all the bugs ironed out & everything working, using their customers as un-paid beta testers at our own expense AND not supporting us while we do find all the bugs & problems; by insiting we use the crappiest tires they could find & also charging the highest price they thought that their (supposedly captive) market might pay for the rubbishy black & (often barely) round things; then choking their engine's performance down by de-tuning the motors; strangling the machines handling with an over-zealous Nanny & no way to disable her (NO, Sport mode DOES NOT disable anything, it just RELAXES traction control on the rear tire A LITTLE!); and now by installing some bloody ridiculous pain in the butt 'digital dash & interface' system that so far, seems to only be capable of detracting from any possible 'easy ryding enjoyment' we might be able or likely to ever get from these things!! :gaah:

At least my 2013 RT doesn't have all that BRP Connect digital dash interface rubbish and I can still pretty much just get on it and ryde.... I thought the 2020's might be better than the last couple of years offerings, and they might even be better in a few ways, but the reality is that NO, there's increasingly little incentive to me to even think about an upgrade OR recommending a new Spyder/Ryker to anyone else! Why would I recommend one to anyone else when I'm not prepared to toss any of my hard earned cash down the drain in buying either something that's not at least as easy to just jump on and ryde as my 2013 RT already is; or on anything that seemingly takes a degree in computing and extended study of necromancy & other arcane arts just to use the piddly little bits that work... sometimes... maybe!! :yikes:

They should be IMPROVING on earlier offerings IN ALL RESPECTS , but NO, instead they are seemingly set upon completely ignoring their greatest marketing asset (their existing customer base!) and continually foisting sub-standard products onto those who might be gulled into buying new in an attempt to 'out tech' anyone else with their glossy bells & whistles & hi-trickery that doesn't even work basically the way it should, let alone match or better the offerings of other brands! Maybe they'd do a lot better if they just tried to make everything they've already given us work properly in the first place?!?

Not Happy with BRP, Jan!

Rant over, putting my soapbox away, for now! :p
