• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP Backrest question

I bought a 2014 BRP backrest from a very kind gentleman here on SL. The seat arrived in suburb shape...however after pulling out the seat plug and lowering the backrest into its position there is nothing there under the seat to hold the backrest in place.

is there a bracket that should have come with the backrest? If so, is this something I can pickup at my local dealership? Or have I not installed this correctly?

help out a musical Non- mechanically minded guy out:yes:

Not sure..!!

From the parts list it seems to bolt to the trunk back. Torx bolts though they could be bolting a frame to the backrest but not showing it. Don't see a bracket. Some one who has done those changes will know...:dontknow:

Yes there is a Bracket.

There is a bracket that mounts to the underside of the seat and the driver backrest slides into that.

The (Drivers) backrest comes with a mounting bracket underneath the seat, contact the person who sold it to you and tell them to send you the rest of the backrest, it comes together as a set and not sure that you can buy them separately

Here's a pic of the bracket that should have been sent with the backrest. To view, rotate clockwise 90 degrees

Bad omen

Hopefully your local dealer can help you out with this. I have the horrible feeling that none of this is coincidence. I hope that I'm wrong and that the bracket and bolts were accidentally left out. Please keep us posted.

:agree:......Unfortunately BRP has a policy that parts that come as a SET can not be bought separately.............I seem to remember someone here damaged a wheel and He couldn't buy just ONE........I hope your missing bracket was an oversite........Mike

So you got both the seat and the backrest? I can't imagine that they would remove the bracket and send you the seat and backrest without it. If so, you may be trying to put the backrest in wrong. It does not go in straight but instead you have to angle the backrest forward to get it to click into the bracket.

Thanks guys for your comments!

After taking some pics of the underside of the seat, the gentleman (who thought as well as myself that the seat came with the bracket installed) will be sending me the bracket off of his seat.

Hopefully it's a no brainer to install.

You do not have to remove the seat......Just un-do the clip on one end of the seat piston and the seat will rise a lot more ...........If you want to remove the seat .....first take off the passenger backrest from inside the trunk ( it's not difficult ) this gives you more access to the bolt on the rear of the seat.........BEFORE YOU TOUCH THAT BOLT......put some tape on all the openings at the rear of plastic pan attached to the frame ....OR ELSE ANYTHING DROPPED WILL DISAPPEAR FOREVER.................Good Luck ......Mike :yes:
