There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. BRP Addressing Spyder Fire Concerns

A BRP representative called me today after I had sent an email that I was concerned about the several Spyders that have started on fire. He said BRP takes all complaints very seriously and that these Spyder fires have got the attention of the very top people at BRP. He said that I should rest assured that the Spyder is very safe and will not just start on fire if I have not been over modifying the bike. As far as BRP is concerned they are keeping there eyes and ears open to this matter but are not going to issue any recall's for these Spyder fires. I told him that I too could smell gas fumes on occassion and he said to not fill the tank all the way full and if I could still smell gas fumes to take it into the dealer to check it for leaks. This BRP rep owns a Spyder himself and told me to enjoy my Roadster. So anyways BRP knows what going on and are monitoring the situation very closely as they should. I still have my doubts so I bought a fire extinguisher just in case.

I think I'd like to stick a smoke alarm on it and then install an ejector that will pop me right off the seat once the fire starts!:2thumbs:

Seriously, glad someone called you back.

Jeff - Thanks for contacting BRP! Which email address did you use - I'd like to email them also to voice my concern regarding the fires. I actually left my bike outside last night for awhile before pushing it into the garage. Thanks! Debbie

No troubles so far, but I am notorious for filling that last drop into the tank. :sour: Guess I shouldn't be pushing my luck. I just like a consistent amount in the tank so I know how many miles to expect since a fill up.

Guess I will have to find a new "fill" level. In any case, this is good that BRP has responded to someone. I too wrote an e-mail. Don't expect a personal response. Just knowing they responded to someone is great assurance.

I also like to fill the tank to the top. Just a bad habit I guess. I'll have to change my ways. This BRP rep also told me he ran out of gas once with his Roadster and knows very well that there is only 6.6 gallons to the tankfull.

The BRP rep did not go into specifics about the mods so I have no idea if these fires have been related to the mods, obviously BRP thinks so.

House burn, cars burn, forests burn. Until I hear of a spontanius combustion of a :spyder2: I will not worry if it ain't on fire relax and continue to enjoy:f_spider:.

Well, there's maybe 6.6 gallons if you fill the tank all the way up.

There's going to be a lot less if you stick the nozzle in to a point 4 or 5 inches from the end and fill to shut off.

That is true about less gas in the tank but remember with the recall you should be getting better gas mileage to make up for less fuel in the tank

Well that's looking at the glass half full! But still, if I have a gas tank, I'd wanna fill it.

I am still going to fill the tank, I just will stop fueling when the pump first shuts off and not put those extra squirts of fuel to completely top it off

I had the recall done and rode it but not enough to empty a tank - been home sick. But I'm hearing about the better mileage and I'm hoping mine is like that!

I fill that baby to the top all the time. Have never smelled gas. If the tank is 6.1 or 6.6 or whatever I'm going to fill it. If BRP feels that this is dangerous they should make some kind of announcement or recall to fix.:lecturef_smilie:
