• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP Accessory Warranty

I called BRP yesterday to find out exactly what is the warranty on BRP accessories? :dontknow:
Here is what I was told:

1) If the BRP accessory is installed by the dealer at the time of delivery AND is part of the overall purchase price, then it has a 2 year warranty.

2) If the BRP accessory is installed by the dealer after the time of delivery and is NOT part of the purchase price, there is a 90 day warranty.

3) If the BRP accessory is installed by non-dealer or non-authorized person (ie; owner or mechanic) the accessory warranty is VOID. BRP will not warranty any of it's accessories that is not installed by authorized persons.

FYI ONLY (just trying to get an answer. I orginally called three different dealers and got three different answers.)

UPDATE: BRP customer service representatives have the authority to make exceptions to the warranty on a case by case basis.

Interesting, no warranty then on anything bought and installed by the owner.. helmuts, head set, clothing, tires? or are they saying they are warrantied by the manufacture?

It sounds pretty fair; They don't want to warranty something when they've had no control over the installation process.
I've bolted most of the simple stuff on by myself to save money; that's the tradeoff that has to be made...

That's way too broad. If it's an obvious defective part they need to take care of it. For instance, say you buy some chrome accessories from them and the chrome starts peeling off and rusting a few months later--what difference does it make who installs it? If it's a complex mechanical accessory that could easily be screwed up by the uninitiated, then it makes sense. It's why we need decision makers on the other end of the phone, not someone reading rules. If BRP follows a policy like that then it makes sense to stay away from their products and purchase aftermarket from folks who will stand behind their products and not make excuses

Apparel and riding accessories is 12 months. Tires are prorated by the tire manufacture. If the headset came installed in the helmet at the time of purchase, 12 months; if bought seperately and installed by dealer, 90 days; if installed by owner, zero.

I bet if you put and after market muffler on your bike and for some reason it causes a problem with the motor, that the manf won't cover I bet youmtheymhave a disclaimer saying not responsible for such things , that is how things in America work now days no one is taking the blame for, anything we as consumer are,on our own.

Of course they aren't going to cover your motor if you add a modification that caused the damage. But.... we have laws about this in the USA.... they can't just void your warranty. There has to be a connection between the aftermarket part and the failed part.

They cannot for example void your engine warranty because you ran aftermarket shocks.
