This thread went from Bar Risers to old people pretty quick lol. At 43 where do i fall in? :)
I really need risers but dont think they 1" is goign to be enough. i saw this other one that looks perfect but someone said it would not work for pre 12 rs? nor have i been able to find one? Seems like my only option is the custom dynamics one where you have to cut the bars.

Over the years

Most people have felt like the brp one inch riser block didn't really accomplish much. My bike came with one. I removed it to install the 4 1/2 " easy risers.
At 43 , you're at the younger end of the scale.

lol that makes me feel good, i think :D
Do you have any info on this 3 inch one? i think im going to wind up with the easy/custom dynamics 4.5 as well but this 3 inch one does look like it would be cleaner looking in the end, if it actually exists or would fit my bike. Plus im scared of installing the 4.5 and would probably take it in.

The BRP 1" spacer riser block is A LOT easier to install than that 1 you have pictured. Cheaper too. Made much more difference than I'd expected... and isn't a permanent mod, no cutting required.

yeah i just dont think the one inch is going to be enough for me, i am only around 5'6 and have to lean way to far forward. The custom dynamics one look like my best option at this point, you do have to cut the bars but all the stock cables and wires will fit. Little scared to try and put them on but we will see what the dealer wants to do it.

thanks

don't be skeert tony

it's not hard to do. just mark the bar and cut with a hacksaw, jigsaw, sawsall, or a good pipe cutter. a dealer will charge you at least one hour labor, probably more.

ok two things that concern me, whats left at the end of the bars? an open jagged hole from a hacksaw or pipe cutter or do you have to file them down or paint them or something?
Second do you have to take the whole dash area apart to get to the wire ties to loosen the cables? Looks like they are buried down there. The local dealer told me 270 for the part and install, assuming they are charging 130 for the part that would be 140 for the labor? Id rather not spend it but id rather not screw up on something i just got either lol.
For some reason or another i am a lot more paranoid to work on this than i am my bike.

I found end caps at my local cycle shop to put in the ends of the cut off bars for a finished look.
By removing the instrument cluster, you can reach most ty-raps, Others can be reached from underneath. I had to re - route a couple cables, but no big deal. Good luck

:agree:...It's really easy to get the instrument cluster out .....check your owners manual ...I used two very small bent nails or paper clips could work .....Mike

Hi latony,

Re: do you have to take the whole dash area apart

Go to the website for the Easy Risers & download the installations.

Those will tell you ( almost ) everything that you have to do. I seem to remember that plugs came with the risers for plugging the ends of the, now cut, handlebars.

In my case, I never found any ty-wraps to cut free; and believe me, I looked very hard to try to find some. I just gave a good pull on all cables, slightly re-routed one, and was good to go.

PS) As I mentioned in the email to you, I used a tubing cutter. I then filed down the raised portion on the end of the h-bars, painted them ( a couple of coats ), and have been OK so far.

Alright, you guys all rock thank you very much. I am going to check my book and see about removing the instrument cluster and replacing that piece of plastic over the gauges then see what it takes to get down to those ties. I took it out this weekend in the mild rain and it was very nice not to have to worry about some oil patch or just slipping in general like i would on my bikes. The result of the ride was more confirmation that these risers need to be done and ASAP.

I have the BRP 1" riser on + the KewlMetal 4" ones as well. They came with black caps for the bar ends & are very nicely made.

i went ahead and ordered the custom dynamics. i could not figure out why the kewl metal ones were 3x as much. The phoenix one i didnt like the ignition relocation. Decided to be lazy and take it in for install. I want to see what kind of work this dealer does anyway before i start bringing it in for stuff you cant see. Hopefully on this saturday if the stupid seller ships them quick.

I was ignorant when I bought the KewlMetal ones & didn't know about other brands or I wouldn't have spent what I did on them.

A bit wiser now.

Hope they do a decent job for you & you like the result.
