BRP 1" riser/spacer plate for 2012 and older RS's... wow!

Just put 1 of those riser spacer plates under my 2012's handlebars, and Wow! what a difference a single inch makes IMO at least! The steering is so much easier, it actually feels like power steering now for a change (I'd always wondered if my DPS system was even working on this roadster... apparently I was just leaning too hard on the handlebars and fighting myself when trying to turn them).

It took about 2 hours to install the thing, mainly because it's hard to find and reach all the bolts holding the clam shell together around the handlebar itself... going back together was easier as I then knew where all 6 bolts went and had that extra inch of clearance underneath to re-install the things.

Anyhows, I've gone for 2 rides since yesterday evening and this is so much easier on my arms and it steers so much easier... just had to say, this thing though a bit of a pain to install is so worth it now! :bowdown:

I decided to get and install this little plate because I've been getting some odd pain and swelling on the inside of my elbows lately, it seemed to have something to do with riding the Spyder so thought this would be a cheap and quick thing to try... ok so it wasn't quite as quick to install as I'd hoped, but it was cheap and seems to have made quite the difference.

Notta problem... figured everybody probably knew what it looked like with the 1" BRP riser installed actually.



So far I really like the improved steering functionality and a lot less fatigue on the arms, going to take a little longer to decide how much I like the look though... not too bad, I think.

ps. My Avatar pic is of the RS as I purchased it all original and stock summer of 2013 (in other words, without this 1" riser spacer plate under the handlebar). And I'm keeping the original 3 handlebar bolts so I can always remove the spacer if I want. It was interesting to discover that inside that handlebar clamshell cover (the silver thingy in the center) there's just a normal curved handlebar in there kinda like a bicycle handlebar... the clamshell cover makes it look flat, but it's really quite curvy. LOL!

This is a pic of that riser plate (it comes with 3 longer bolts to install it):


It sits on top of the existing steering column plate (which looks just like it but thinner and made out of steel) and then the handlebar sits on top of this aluminum spacer plate. The longer bolts accommodate the extra 1" of thickness.

There seems to be another style that was made to replace the existing steel plate on the steering shaft, but it apparently took A LOT more work to make the switch... once you get the handlebar clamshell apart, this thing is pretty simple to put in.

I have the 3 inch riser and decided to go to the cutoffs so I get the up and back

after removing the riser and reinstalling the bars to factory height due to cables being to short to do both

I feel the only thing I can say is my wallet is 300 lighter with little difference in comfort
