Broken Upper Mirror Bracket

Installing the horn went smoothly until the very last item to be installed..the mirror. I popped it on the bottom first..big mistake. I m thinking one should put the top on first, slide the mirror down into place in the slot, then "bop" the bottom into place.

Now, I have to wait till Tuesday to install the mirror. No dealer in the area (unless I want to travel to B.C) has one in stock.

Yep. The top is entirely different from the bottom two. Different part nos. I tried using ABS glue with no luck.

I m surprised dealers don't stock this item. It's only 4 bucks.

So, any runnin I will be doing will be without a left mirror/signal.

Oh, and bought a "10 pack" of those black little rivet looking fasteners. I have a real problem keeping track of both parts. Lots of "bottoms" that are missing the "top".

The parts can be replaced separately much cheaper, but you will have to order them. The mirror assemblies are $163 each.

I now know that you "unsnap" the bottom first, then pull up.

So, assembly is in reverse of disassembly,eh? :shocked:..:thumbup:

Nope. Your removal instructions worked fine, t'was the re-installation that messed things up. No biggie..just have to drum up some "patience".

Actually, patience is always there, it's how I act while being patient that either makes me look like a normal human being or a raging fool! Yesterday, for about 10 minutes, I was jetting straight for "fool-dom". :yikes:;

As far as the horn goes, which was the reason for this whole adventure, it says..HEY,YOU GUYS!!N HERE I AM!! GET BACK IN YOUR OWN LANE,PLEEEZE!! (like a Spyder needs any more recognition than it already has..)

Mirror or not, I m going for a ride SOMEWHERE today.

UPDATE!

For anyone who breaks one of these little darlings and no dealer has one in stock, here is what I did and it worked like a charm:

I got out my faithful electric soldering iron I use for small soldering projects. I made sure the broken part was where it was supposed to be, then I "welded" it all the way around, being very careful not to melt the thinner part that actually does the holding. I melted/dragged some material from the thicker part of the bracket down to the thinner and used it as "filler".

Went for a ride and it seems to work just fine.Mirror is still there.. hyea:

One of mine broke after a few removals. My dealer ordered me 2 at my request. They warranted the broken one and about $4.50 for the spare. Plus gas to the dealer and back.... 207 miles = $29.00
