• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Broken Trunk

One of the pins used to secure the rear trunk lid has broken off (fell in between the tupperware in the back) making it impossible to secure/ lock the trunk. I brought it into the shop and after a few days was told that BRP rejected the claim and that the repairs would have to be completely out of pocket. I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of the BEST extended warranty can confirm that what i am being told is accurate? The tech at the shop told me the claim was rejected as the warranty does not cover body damage. It seems to me to be a defective, and somewhat known issue (warranty bulletin 2011-8 covered issues with the rear trunk). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

BTW, i have a 2011 RT Limited.

thanks!

In my mind, that's not body damage, that's a part failure. Unless, of course, the part failed due to damage to the trunk. I'd recommend you call BRP and ask them about it.

:agree: X2... It sounds as if the dealership hasn't really given BRP an accurate description of what has happened...

Responding to your post vice mine.. My rear trunk lock broke at the link that controlled the ride side of the lock. I had to force the trunk open, causing the pin to break on the right side. I called the dealership, explained what had happened and gave the tech. the part numbers of what was needed to repair. I have a 2012 RT Limited which is still under warranty. They ordered the parts and repaired under the warranty. I believe it was caused by the lock being mis-aligned, and causing extra pressure on the link when closing the trunk. Unfortunately they broke my LED brake lights when repairing the trunk.. Have to repair or replace which might cost almost as much as the trunk parts..

Thanks for everyone's input. Srwilli, my problem was almost exactly the same as yours (but my left pin broke). I will talk to the dealership tomorrow and have them try to resubmit with my new found knowledge.

TRUNK

noticing my trunk will come unlatched going down the road after I know I latched it right, wonder if that's what's happening to mine. how much are the pins? most annoying..

happened again LATCH WON'T STAY LATCHED

on the way in to work this afternoon.:yikes::yikes: latched tight when I left the house...can't see the hinges loose or the latch.:banghead::banghead: tried adjusting the latch higher and lower in teh slot for it, it'll only latch in a small area. anybody else?

yes my right side pin broke on the back trunk. the replacement part is about $65.00.

they do not sell the pins them self. I had happen where the pin just fell out, I used a

bolt that would fit the hole. Probable what happen the bar came loose that goes from

one lock to the other. all you have to do is remove the back panel and put the bar back.
