• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Broken bolt head

I have a F3 base model that I was adding rear passenger handles and removable brackets for saddle bags. I took off the first 2 bolts no problem, a little tough at first but came out fine. I went to the other side to unscrew my first bolt and the head broke off. What is the best way to get the bolt out without damaging the threads that the bolt screws into. Should I just try to drill it out and heat it up since it has lock tight on it?

Drill into the center - repeat center - of the bolt and apply an EZ Out. If you have left hand drill bits, try those. Insert a drill bit and apply heat - it will transfer to the bolt and soften the loctite. If you have an impact driver, connect the EZ Out to it and be gentle.

If I understand what you are doing;

Heat up the head of the bolt on the other end of the handle. It will come out easy when it is heated a little bit. Then the grab rail will come off over the broken bolt head. With the grab rail off, you can heat the part of the broken bolt that is sticking out, and get on it with a pair of vise grips. They come out real easy when you heat them enough to soften the Loctite.

You don't need a torch or getting it red hot. All you need is a butane bottle to heat it up just enough to soften the Loctitie

Thank you, I already got the other bolt out. The Bolt that is giving me problems,the head broke off and is up in inside one of the posts that the grab rail attaches to.

A set of reverse twist drills is still a lot cheaper than taking it to a machine shop or having to have a mounting stud welded on it.
