• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder has spend over 150 days in the shop and for the last month its been running good so... I order some rain gear for ron on this sit he is A+. Got the rain gear and off to Shenandoah Skyline Drive and part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I got pulled over going over 45 and under 50 mph I did not realize speed limit was 35 at that time. Cop let me go and told me to slow down and that is were it all went bad. I slowed down to 45 mph and the spyder said to slow and kicked an engine light/ limp home mod over 300 miles from home. So I did the turn it off and walk away for t min came back to it and light is still on. So I will try to ride the 300 plus miles home with it in limp home mod because no shops open until tue! Some pics from today!20160529_140448.jpg20160529_110017.jpg

Did you get a "Bad key code" or a D.E.S.S error Code?

Deanna

No dess code and I have not pulled any codes I don't want to know!! I will ride slow home tomorrow and if she don't make it I will get it towed.

When you slowed to 35 mph what gear were you riding in? I always run engine at 4,500-5,000 rpm at a minimum. The 998cc does not like to run below 4,000 rpm.
Which is probably why some people prefer the 1330 engine, it will run at much lower rpm, but then it was designed to do that, the V-twin was designed for high rpm operation. Below 40 mph I am normally in 1st gear. I have not encountered any engine/tranny problems with my Spyder. I hope you can get yours straightened out!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!

Bummer...

That check engine light has way to many reasons to light up. I would start with a quick check of the oil level and a safety check. Fluids, fuses/relays, brake lighs/switches etc. It can be many things for wich you will get no codes or other warning lights. I had to make an emergency stop one time and did not down shift and stalled the engine when starting back up. I got the limp home and engine light 1000 miles out in the middle of nowhere. While rolling down the road I shut her off pulled the key coasting for a bit (manual trans) put the key back in started her up and the limp home was gone. Knowing all levels were good etc I rode on. After a luch stop the engine light went away. If the limp mode is not limiting your rpm/speed it would be something not to serious...hope it clears for you...

Without any codes: there's nothing that anybody can do, or suggest as a solution... Please get the codes, and let the folks in here try and help.

Just got in

The 300 plus miles home the spyder ran great did 50 to 75 and one run up to 95 just to see if it would. Now the engine light has been on the whole time but it never went into limp home mod like it normally does. It ran fine just has the engine light flashing away!! I will call the dealer to.borrow and let everyone know what they say!!20160530_134722.jpg

The thing that gets me is it never went into limp home mod... It will go back to the shop with a new list of crap...

Why do you want it to go into limp mode. The fault would not cause a safety issue or cause more mechanical damage. Those are the only reasons for limp mode. The fault you had may cause a little extra fuel to be burned or some loss of power. So only the engine light came on.

So we can kick a check engine light for emission related stuff and it not go into limp home mod? But if its DPS or VSS then it will go into limp home mod?
I've been asked not to come back to the old shop so the new shop is 120 miles away so more time on the poor spyder for me!!
