• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just a quick question. What kind of life am I to expect out of the stock break pads? When time to replace what brand are people going with? I have had squealing front brakes since new at low speeds at the start of a day that goes away. Dealer said nothing they could. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time

Hard to say..!!

I have an RS with manual transmission. With my ryding style I have over 27,000 miles on the oem brakes. I have a set of EBC's I got from BajaRon (sponsor here on home page) that I will use when these are gone...RT are heavier and if semi auto use them up much faster. Those with the RT's will let you know. They did change brake calipers along the way making a difference as well. If you do your own you will need to check them if not the dealer will let you know...

My brakes were still good on the 2010 RT when I traded it off at 36,500 miles.

Recently replaced the rear tire on the 2011 RT. Needed new brake pads at 16,500 miles.

I ride an 08 GS SE5, purchased used so had no idea of how many miles were on the pads, so I replaced them as they squealed like pigs, common enough problem. They still squealed with new pads and the rotors were in good shape.
Read the following carefully. RTFQ.:lecturef_smilie: My cage mechanic suggested putting a very small smear of High Temp Grease on the contact area between the REAR of the pad and the caliper piston as that was where the noise was coming from. It worked!!! So no squeal, but no idea on pad wear yet with my driving style and it does depend on your style. :D
My $.02 and worth all of it maybe!:D

Thanks for all the input.

I was wondering do the spyder pads have wear indicators like cars do or is it just inspection.?
