• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Break-in of 1330 Engine

Really no different than any other engine. The key is to vary your RPM/speed and heat cycling. Don't be afraid to accelerate hard with a good amount of throttle.
The worst thing you can do is either do extended highway runs or limp around town with light throttle.

At 3,000 miles: it'll need to have the break-in servicing done. You might want to give it about 1,000 miles of riding before REALLY leaning hard on the powerband...
(Other folks will disagree with me on this point...)

Congrats on your new ride. Suggest you check the Operator's Guide section entitled Operation During Break-In. It's on pg 56 of the 2014 RT guide. Others may tell you to ride it like you stole it; read and decide. While you're at it read the rest of the guide; it's full of useful information. Ride safe!
 
DrewNJ gave you good advice. Drive it much like normal unless that includes burnouts and excessive riding. Take it easy on the brakes until they have had a chance to seat themselves.

:agree: That is the best way to break in your engine. As for the brakes, you need to make some fast stops (60 mph to close to stand still) and get them hot even if you smell the pads then a slower ryde to let them cool down. Also good paractice for those emergency stops...:thumbup:
 
All good advice above. I have always given my :spyder2::ani29: a gentle first 1000 miles. Vary the speeds in each gear, no redline, do a few quick stops on the brakes (after the tires get that 350 mile run).

The balance of the break-in, I stretch the rpms more and just ride like I normally would.

I am conservative like Bob, and would not drive it like I stole it. This is a personal decision--so do what floats your boat.

A lot of really reputable engine builders I've run into do engine break ins on a dyno and run them hard for short bursts, letting the motor cool between runs. I'm in the camp that you have a VERY short period of time to break in a motor properly

My dealer, when asked, said vary the RPM's and dont use the cruise control for the first thousand miles. Doesn't matter how fast you go, just vary your speeds. I have only had mine up to 110mph so far but it was a short quick burst. Looking forward to seeing what Cocaine can do when she is pressed. By the way, I do love my new bike, but I do miss the acceleration of the 998. That's the only thing I miss though.
 
On my race engines it was always run it like it was in a race after the dyno session. Pretty much it was broken in after the dyno session.
