There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brand New DPS!

Well, we rode up to our East Tennessee dealership in Elizabethton to get the new, improved DPS units installed in both my and Lamont’s SM5’s!

It was a beautiful day, nice ride. First time I’ve been on my Spyder in I don’t know how long! And Lamont bought lunch! I'd call that a PERFECT DAY!

East TennesseeATV And Sea-Doo, is a great dealer! Friendly, helpful and they have it all on the shelf, ready to go!

Took the mechanic (should have gotten his name but Lamont probably knows), about 2 hours it install each unit, run the BUDS, update our Odometers and send us on our happy way.

Jason, the guy in charge when dad isn’t around (which is quite often) is just a great guy! Perfect for introducing new customers to the Spyder.

The new DPS is smoother, more fluid, more tractable than the old one. My Spyder seems to turn easier at slow and moderate speeds. I like it very much. These are subtle differences. And the guys at the shop have you ride it to see how it feels just for that reason. Someone that took it for a short ride before and after would probably not notice any difference.

Anyway, it’s all good to go! Something that I definitely wanted to get done before the Big G&G ride that Lamont tricked me into!

Thank you very much to all the people at East Tennessee ATV!

We went into the dealer last week for other stuff that Lamont needed. We asked about the DPS units that had been so scarce. They told us that with all the bad weather no one was scheduling the fix and Jason showed us a stack of DPS units they had gotten in.

He also said that as soon as it starts warming up he expects that the DPS unit delivery from BRP may not keep up with demand.

So, a word to the wise! The early bird really does stand a better chance of getting the worm!

We scheduled right then and there. Don't depend on your dealer calling you when they get these in. Dealers get busy too!

Remember, you heard it here FIRST!

May just be me...

I don't really care for the new DPS...it's really 'loopy'...meaning, it has no hold at higher speeds...too loose for my liking.

I prefer it to be tougher to turn at higher speeds, not easier...I really liked the feel of the old one more...too bad they can't program it with let's say 3 options...soft, medium, and firm.

I'd go 'firm', no question...right now it's 'soft'.

Steering assist should adjust according to your speed...I believe that the new DPS is programmed so that a two year old can turn the handlebars....

Ron - sounds like a great day, indeed, spydering with new DPS units, free lunch... yeah!

Glad you guys are now updated on the DPS.

It was good to get out on a well needed ride after all this snow and cold weather. I can't really say I noticed any difference in my DPS but it's good to know I don't have one that may act up one day.

I had a 65 442 with variable power steering; IE, The faster you went the less the power assist, that's what the Spyder needs.

:agree:I too think at higher speeds its a little too easy but...it may stiffen up a little in time.

I really didn't notice any difference at high speed, though 70mph was as fast as we went yesterday and it was straight road. So I guess I have not given that aspect a proper assessment.

But I would agree, that at speed I want some resistance in the steering and probably zero assist. I'll have to see how that goes when I get the chance.

I wonder if there may be a variance between one install and the next, or maybe a variance between one Spyder and the next. Lamont didn't notice any difference at all.

I suppose some of it could be psychological, like when someone puts on a louder exhaust and swears his bike is faster. Only to find that the Dyno and his lap times prove he's lost power. So I'm always trying to factor in the mental aspect.

It's probably a combination of all of these. But I must say, if only for the assurance factor, I'm a happy camper with my new DPS!

Ah! But what else can you expect from a "Fan Boy"! :D:doorag::D

That is how the Spyder steering is supposed to work. Seems with the 'new' DPS they have it assisting a bit more at higher speeds now....
