• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After riding 5 to 10 miles, I notice that when I am rolling to a stop or taking off that I am hearing a howl from one of the rotors..It is not the entire rotor, it is only a small part since it howls, stops, howls, stops...etc....I think it is the rear rotor. It goes away as I roll faster, but I am wondering if I have a warped rotor? the brakes have squealed on and off ever since I bought it.

Would a warped rotor be covered under warranty? it is a 2009 with about 4800 miles on it.

At that mileage it's probably not covered. It's possible you didn't release your parking brake at some time (or it didn't fully disengage). I warped my rear rotor this way at about 6k and needed to cut the rotor and get new pads.

Am I the only one who hates the parking brake?

:agree: and I HATE the parking brake--- which is why I never use it.

Just ask the dealer. My dealer replaced everything and put the new Gen 3 pads. All under warranty. I have 12000km on mine. Mine squealed like a banshee from new.

Hate it too, Before i finally fixed it, a few people thought i was trying to kick start the engine, when i was just trying to release the :cus: brake:gaah:
What I hate is that stupid parking brake alarm on the SE5 semi-auto. Sometimes, when I stop the Spyder and set the brake, the alarm continues to beep. Then I get off and really press down hard to get it to silence. And you had better be in the habit of using the parking brake and steering lock if you ryde a SE5, they can roll away. The techie at the shop said it was because I had just replaced the rear pad, wait "till it wears in". I don't buy that, so I guess I'll have figure out how to adjust it myself today.

Y'all are crazy! :roflblack: I find nothing wrong with the parking brake. It took a little getting used to, but that would be the case with any new machine. Works good for me man!

Now for the rotor issue. there is a way to isolate. If you have the means Jack up the bike and put it on stands. Now release the parking brake. Then simply rotate each wheel and find the one that is making the noise. Upon close inspection you will be able to see if the rotor is warped or not. Also check your wheels and lugs to make sure they are spec. I don't think enough attention is paid to the tires and wheels. I check mine constantly. I cannot afford to have either one fail, given how I ride. This would be bad!

One more thing; my tech told me that I should really jump on them a couple of times to seat up everything, as I was also having a bit of a squeal. SO I took his advice and I have not had a problem since! Just food for thought...

I have your solution for easy to apply and release for your parking brake. I make a manual parking brake assist that you can use while being seated on you Spyder. Works 100%. Easy to install. contact me at [email protected] and buy one. Once you use it you will wonder how you got along without it. Arthur---Mexico City
