I need some help- With the Spyder (SM5) in neutral and the parking brake off (so as to roll the bike forward and back), the rear wheel emits a sound exactly like a whale's mating call. Clearly, it is the brake rubbing but I cannot seem to get rid of it. The metal stop for the parking brake will not allow adjustment beyond that point and I am just not schooled as to how to adjust the rear brakes. It is certainly creating resistance to the travel of the wheel at all times. Interestingly, my mechanic told me that the brakes cannot be adjusted as they are hydraulic- I just picked the thing up yesterday. Just to be clear, the sound occurs at a particular point in the rotation of the wheel. Just think of the whale call and you have the picture.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

At the rear wheel
remove the parking brake cable
Remove the Spring
Remove the Bolt holding the Arm.
The Arm attaches to a Spindle Shaft on. What you want to do is adjust the arm to make it looser. To do this you turn it counter clockwise. (Clockwise to make tighter). Once you get to the point where it stops. You want to remove the arm and re-positon it so it is in the same position it so it is almost or touching the stop.
Now just put it back together. You will need to re-adjust the cable. It may take a little bit of playing.

I had a slight amount of noise coming from all the wheels, both low speed rolling, and upon application of the brakes. I used CRC brake products to fix it. Read the last part of this post.

You're mechanic is only partially right....as far as the Spyder is concerned.
The front calipers are non-adjustable because they are hydraulic....yes.
However, the rear caliper is also hydraulic BUT....the parking brake is integrated into the rear caliper piston by using a threaded actuator shaft. The parking brake is NOT self adjusting and needs to be tightened up periodically as the rear pads wear.
The backrest came from Mel's Monster Garage, purchased on ebay. The install is pretty easy. They send pretty detailed instructions. The seat is pretty easy to remove in order to install the backrest brackets.

I had the problem with the front wheels making noise while applying the brakes. I called service and they told me that manytimes dirt and old dust builds up on the brake pads and rotors and to take it for a 30 mile ride and when you have to stop, really get on the brakes. I did that and the noise went away.

I know what you mean-
--I used to tell everyone that mine sounded like a screech owl in heat. After about 5000 miles mine stopped making noise and now the brakes are smooth and with no squeal when stopping. Maybe it just takes time to break in.:dontknow:
