There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brakes and Rear Tire

Is it normal for rear brakes and tire to be toast at 6500 miles? I can understand the tire because the factory one is junk and I ride very hard in the twisties. But, come on.. rear brakes too. Just replaced the rear tire with a Nitto today and noticed the brakes. Is there a better set of pads than the factory ones? I really don't want to replace them with the same oem junk. Thanks

I don't think 6500 miles would be normal at all. I have almost 9000 miles. Pads are fine. Could the emergency brake be stuck and not fully releasing? Any heat build u or smell that you have noticed?

Just grasping at straws because 6500 miles is abnormal IMO. Seems like something other than part quality is causing your premature wear. Otherwise we would have a massive uprising here on the forum from other owners!!

Thanks big time to blueknight911 as he was a great help with this. The only thing I can think of is that I ride it like a sled and go into corners very hot while downshifting with hard braking and then accelerating thru and out of the curves unhooking the rear tire very often. Most of the time I'm right on the edge of the nanny kicking in on the curves. Mike was telling me his went at 5000 mi and he's here in VT as well. To go anywhere here it's either up or down to get anywhere on the southwestern/central side of the state. never noticed excessive heat and never ride the brakes but do use them very hard at times when in the mountains and corners. I always try to stay with the cruise bikes but could never stay with the sport bikes and don't even try. I now know why motorcyclists have to replace their rear tire once a year.

Geeeeeeeeez, I wonder why your brakes pads are shot ????:roflblack: Oh yaaaaaa, now I remember.......... click link to see for yourself !!! :roflblack: The leaves should be nice in your area soon. Hint hint !!! Holly says to say hello to the Mrs for us.

That WASN'T me in that video and I had nothin' to do with it! Lisa says HI Holley! Miss you guys. Anytime you guys wanna go, hit me up. The roads here are junk still up in the mountains. Tried to get to south woodstock for lunch last weekend and 106 was still closed. I hear rte 4 sucks even though it's open. Very rough. I'm spending most of my time in NY state and will be heading back up and out towards Placid and Schroon Lake on day trips this fall. I'll give you guys a heads up as to when and I would love to meet you down your way and you can show me around your area. Maybe even make a weekend out of it! I have a pop up camper here so if you wanted to come up you've got a place to stay. yes it has heat!:D

I changed out my rear brake pads at about 5000 miles... I went to the 3rd generation version and have been real happy with them. The old ones were getting pretty thin, but did still have a fair amount of life left...
Rear tire... 6800 miles and it'll be changed also... Falken 912!

I really hope the Nitto does ok with pushing the limits in the corners. The oem rubber was actually cooked about a month and a half ago and have been running it as a slick.:roflblack: Haven't been able to ride in the rain as the rear would wag like a dog. Kinda fun when I knew it was gonna happen. A little unnerving when it was a surprise. Maybe I'll give the 3'rd gen pads a try. I hit a bar in Londonderry for .25$ wings and a brewhaha the day before Irene came thru and a couple of guys on bikes laughed because I was complaining about the rear tire. They go though 2/season on their bikes. The next day the bar got swamped in the hurricane. Too bad. It was a good stop when rhompin' around in the mountains.

Wow, I haven't changed either the brakes or tire. I have over 19k and in the spring I will be getting a new rear tire, brakes are fine. I ride 140 miles a day and more on the weekends. I even over inflated my rear to the full amount 30psi (now have backed that down to 22-25), tire is thinner in the middle cuz of this, but I am not having any issues like that.
