There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brakes AGAIN!!!!

I had not had any major brake squeal. I took my spyder in for its 6000 mile checkup. I indicated to the mechanic that there was intermittent squeal but not to bother with it. When I picked up my spyder the mechanic indicated that he cleaned the brake pads and I should be fine. I drove from Baltimore to Youngstown Ohio. The brakes squealed all thye way out and back. I called the dealer and was advised that since the bike had more than 3000 miles on it that they would not authorize replacing the pads. I advised the dealer that I was going to Laconia bike week and would be certain to explain that brake squeal was a part of owning a spyder and advise anyone who seemed interested that they should consider quieter wheels.

The dealer indicated that I should wash the brake disks with soap and water and see if that helps. Anyone try this fix?

Are there ceramic brake pads available for the spyde? Since I am going to have to replace the pads on my dime I want the best.

Thanks,

Craig

Hey, my brakes squeeled like crazy, so I talked to my Dealer and they replaced them with the new pads that BRP Warranty'ed and now I have no sqeeling. They also loved the Hydralic hand brake I put on, looks factory.:2thumbs:

Did you bed them in after they were cleaned?

Find a stretch of country road - get going 60 - do a HARD stop - repeat 4-5 times and then pull over and let the brakes cool down for 15-20 minutes - don't use the parking brake while they cool down. I do this once a month and it keeps them pretty quiet.

The brake dust acts like lube. There are also some ideas about the parking brake being applied when done with a ride causing some warping and thus brake noise.

I've also used CRC de-squeak - but be CAREFUL. Best to spray it on a rag and then wipe it on as any overspray onto plastic will make it look silver. After applying it your brakes are worthless for the first 15-20 stops - so BE CAREFUL.

I managed to rid the squealing with Brake Cleaner and De-Sqeal.

Just had the parking brake replaced and whatever adjustment they made to set the brake alignment on the rear tire has my :spyder: moaning like a garbage truck again. A bit embarrassing at Americade today; the :spyder: is still an attention getter, but it soon shifts to laughter when at 1-2 miles an hours she squeals like a pig in heat.

I'll need to re-adjust it. Attempting to re-seat them w/high-speed braking hasn't done jack.

Had the same thing here happen with the parking brake.
