• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake Squeal

In my never ending list of Spyder Woes, I get to add break squeal. I initially had the break in squeal that required me to stomp on them. That went away in the first week. More recently, I developed a loud, menacing squeal in my rear break. I lubed it up with some break cleaner last night without disassembling it and that worked- for about an hour. Now it's back in full force.

I'm going to take the caliper apart tonight and give it a good clean/lube. Any tips on what to look for specifically?

replace the brake pads thay were not wiped off with brake cleaner before it was delervered to you my friend had the same problem with his theres nothing wrong with the caliper try that first than wipe off the brake rotor with brake clean again both sides before you install the new brake pads good luck

I'm one of those who have encountered the "brake-squeal syndrome." Was hesitant to ride anywhere in town due to the awful noise of stopping! I bought a spray can of "CRC DE-SQUEAK conditioning treatment for brakes" Technician Grade. Followed the directions carefully resulting in about a 95% decrease in brake squeal! For those whose spyder has the same syndrome as mine this might help.

Did you have to disassemble anything or just spray it on?

I'm convinced that the problem with the brake squealing is due to the dealers failure to remove the protective shipping film on the rotors as they are instructed to do when prep is done. I used Go-Joe on mine before riding it and you wouldn't believe how much stuff came off. I have had no problem with the brakes. I disagree with the idea that stomping on new brakes from 70- 80 mph will do anything good...all it will accomplish is glazing the pads which will make squealing more pronounced. The new vehicle manual that comes with every vehicle I owned clearly advises to go easy on the brakes for the first couple hundred miles.
