There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brake squeal gone!

There might be an easy fix you're overlooking. On several Yamaha's and a few Honda's, I've cured the front brake squeel with some inexpensive shims.

Each pack has enough to do two calipers. "Squeel" is really just high frequency vibration. The shims absorb the vibration.

Pull the pads, and clean the back of each with brakekleen. Once they dry, peel and stick the composite shims onto the back of the pads. Use a razor blade to trim any excess.

That's similar to what BRP was suggesting dealers do early on as the fix for excessive brake squeal. They used some other type of product on the back of the brake pads though, like a grease. I think it was this...

Have you tried this? Does it do the job?

Way back (before their new brake pads), when BRP first started to allow dealers to fix this under warranty, my dealer used a very similar product and it did quiet the brakes. Being it was akin to a very heavy grease, it did break down a bit over time but never got as bad as they used to squeel. Maybe an occasional growl.

I'd like to try something. I may give this a shot. The ones I'm familiar with were a blue silicone that set up. We used this on our fire trucks as they go short distances and we pretty much abused the breakes (can't imagine why that happened!).

Sure missed you guys at Magog. Would have been better if you'd come.

Neighbours are waking up same time as me in the mornings, even if they don't want to,, got to back down an incline to get the bike out and it squeals like something possessed. Tried to freewheel down without brakes and almost took out a car while reversing around the corner at high speed,, now I just squeal.

My dealer told me about the BG stuff too. It sounds wrong to spray anything onto the pad surface itself but apparently it does work for lots of people. I did a Google search and found it had been used on cars, trucks, etc. I may try it myself even if it seems a bit scary. :gaah:

Hey guys, I took my bike in for the DPS fix and I guess the shop fixed my parking brake while it was there. About half way home the squealing started. WoW! now I know what you guys are talking about! I figured that since I didn't have the squeal before, it had to be related to the parking brake adjustment. Sooo I loosened the parking brake all the way...still squealed. Next I took the parking brake arm off the splines and pushed as much cable back up into the cable sleeve as I could. Keeping pressure on the cable I replaced the parking brake arm and voila! No more squeal! I have only gone about 50 miles since then but so far so good. BTW my parking brake still works great!
