Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brake Squeak

Hi,

Any advice on how to quiet squeaking brakes ?

Only 550 miles on the bike...shouldn't be an issue with worn brake pads.

Thanks,

Ray

Welcome to the world of the can am Spyder I'm on 3rd set of pads still squeaks 30000 miles ,,,, yes that is just what spyders do ... Been squeaking since 2008 :2thumbs:

Gen 3 pads and proper break in and no squeak.

DO NOT go with the EBC brand pads---horrible pads- wear fast

3Rd gen pads, :thumbup: There your only fix, Without going with Rube Goldberg fixes.
The numbers are; front=219800164
Rear=219800165.

If you think your pads squeak, you oughta try living on 2 miles of dirt road! Mine squeak, growl, etc., until I have put several miles on hard surface! Yep, I have a 2010 RT.

My dealer had to replace the rear brake rotor and install Gen 3 pads and new mounting bolts to reduce the loud squeal. I had tried many other remedies but none kept the squeal away very long. The bolt problem that they found was that the bolts that hold the rear caliper in place had a groove worn in them so that pads were quite loose on the bolts and would vibrate. Now when the spyder sits for a few days while I am out of town for work the squeal is there when I back out of the garage. Once moving and after applying the brakes it does not squeal so I consider it almost solved. Before the replacement anytime I applied the brakes there was a loud screech from the rear.

I Hear ya! I do live 2 miles down a dirt road also. soon as that bike hits the gravel / dirt it starts squealin like a banshee. Ive finally just resorted to wipin my brake rotors down at 1st stop on rides. takes the squeal out for a short time.but it always comes back.

Thank you all !!

Now I have some leads to look into...I'll post the results once I get a chance to tinker with the pads/calipers.

I bought an '08 used recently with only 3000 miles. From the beginning, my brakes have been squeaking. But after reading the threads on this forum, it seems normal for spyder ryders to have squeaking brakes.

Both our Spyders do it, especially if either machine sits for any length of time. I just clean the components off and it goes away. Just make it part of the pre-flight now before we take off as it's Pretty embarrassing not to mention annoying! :yikes:
