• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake Reservoir Leaking

Brake reservoir appears to be leaking at cap. Did the tech overfill or do I just have a bad seal. Anyone else have thus problem?

Take a look at the cap. There is a "ridge" running from the center out to the edge and then down the side or edge of the cap. That ridge is the vent tube that allows air into the reservoir but also can allow fluid out. Take the cap off carefully after wiping around the area to get everything clean (never let any dirt get into the reservoir!). Be careful not to let the fluid drip on anything -- the inside of the cap will be wet with fluid and will drip. Brake fluid attacks paint rapidly. Anyway, take the cap off, clean all the fluid from around the filler neck and threads, and then put the cap back on such that the vent ridge points uphill. The cap only goes on with a couple orientations but one will get it more or less uphill. Fluid sloshes around and gets on the inside of the cap and if the vent tube is pointed downhill, as mine were, the fluid works its way out the vent tube onto the top of your reservoir. If the vent tubes are pointed uphill, the fluid is less likely to get out. I turned my caps "uphill" a couple thousand miles ago and everything is totally dry and clean so far.

This guy made a youtube video of this very common problem and when I had my Spyder apart last December........ sure enough the same damage in the video was on my Spyder. I'm glad I was able to take care of it before any frame damage occured but the paint was all ate off. Thank goodness I saw this Video from this guy before it was to late.

You guys rock. The caps were definitely faced the wrong direction. I'll keep an eye on the leak.

LEAKING

It sounds like you found the problem and fixed it, great......But believe it or not you can actually overtighten the cap which will also cause it to leak...ask me how I would know this...:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:......Mike.....
