• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake pads

2 questions.

What would the expected life be of the brake pads with 50/50 city-highway cruising?

Would adding too much brake fluid cause the pedal to need to be pressed further to get stopping power?

I was getting the brake failure light a few weeks back, added some fluid and all was well. 2 weeks later it seems my pedal has to be pressed quite hard and far to stop.

My other thought that when it was low I got some air in the line and they need to be bled.

most of my riding is hwy miles, to and from work each day. I've never had to add fluid; but I do notice that to get a good firm pedal... I've always had to double-pump the brake.

the first press is a little soft; but the second press puts a good firm grab on the brakes. I have to take the bike in for svc this week (rear tire replacement); and am going to ask about the braking action.

all of this aside from the lifetime of brake squeal.

I have heard others say in here that the first pump on the brakes is a bit soft, but then they firm up on subsequent stabs of the pedal... The nature of the best I suppose... :dontknow:
