Help!. Just took my 2008 spyder in for the third time. Brakes seems OK, but I keep showing a brake failure message. Showed up last summer and took it in. They updated the computer but that did not work. Second time, they ordered a new computer chip and that worked for about 6 weeks. Third time, they again uploaded a new update, but I am still getting the "brake failure" message. This time though I noticed that the message appears frequently when traveling low speeds or at a stop. On the highway it was very infrequent, but would occasionally show. Again the bike seems to be fine. Brakes work:2thumbs:, but I would like to not see that message.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Also make sure the caps on the master cylinder have a good seal. Mine were leaking and were replaced under warranty.

I have also read the Spyders are very sensitive to the brake fluid level. Another interesting thing is that you will also receive that code if your brake lights are not working correctly. You may want to check to make sure they are coming on as well. I blew the 10 Amp fuse for them and didn't realize it. Was ryding in traffic and had to break a little harder than normal, received ABS Failure code and then Limp Home mode kicked in. Found the issue that blew the fuse, replaced fuse, and all was well again.

Silly question...
Is the warning only on while actually braking, or is it on continuously once lit? If continuously, when it first lights, is it while braking?

I had the same problem last year,, the fluid level is VERY SENSITIVE and that is what the problem was with mine..

+1 I've had the same thing multiple times related to the brake fluid level. Another thing to check is the parking brake adjustment. If the adjustment is way off, the rear pads may be too far away from the rotor causing excessive travel when applying the brakes. If the brake message comes and goes, I'd guess it's fluid level related.

Just a visual check may have them thinking the levels are good. When we say the Spyder is really sensitive to the levels, we mean really sensitive. It looks like it's good enough but it needs to be full to the line (or bottom of fill neck) to eliminate the nuisance brake faults.

does you brake pedal travel lower at first press than if you pump on the pedal 3 or 4 times? special brake bleed procedure needed.
was your brake pedal pushrod into master cylinder lenght adjusted in any way? must be reset as brake pedal microswitch and pressure sensor in abs module have to be in sinch.
do you have led bulbs in brake lights circuit? use original bulbs.
try and retreive fault codes.
