There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Brake failure...again and again

Hey Carol this is Pat on Johns computer over here at the coast. Its a little bit cooler than it is there I'm sure. I still don't think Clawsons is going to let you ride there spyder thats on the show room floor. My bet is like I told you at home yesterday, you will come riding up on the back of Bobs motorcycle. You should have taken me up on my offer to ride my spyder and I could have rode one of my bikes. Call me and tell me the verdict.

yeah, yeah...I know...shoulda, woulda, coulda :dontknow:

I am going to call BRP later (work has been complicated today).
I am going to hold Clawson's to their word, I want to drive a Spyder to this thing, preferrably mine. It is not over until I start singing. We could not dispose of our pet issues until Friday morning so we need to be in Lemoore until then. We will keep in touch..

Bike is back at the dealership after spending a week back home. The bike keeps (5 or 6th time since Dec) loosing the brake pressure, sends out alert which will remain until dealer clears it. The brakes will loose pressure once or twice during a long ride, pumping the brake returns most of the pressure. Like I said, the bike as been back and forth to the dealership. I don't want to give it back, just want it fixed. I told the dealer that I am bound for Hollywood, leaving on Friday. I must pick up the bike on Thursday or pick up a demo to take. :gaah:

Anyone else have issues with brake failure?
I have a ticket opened on this with BRP also, they will be calling the mechanics on Monday and said they will remote hook up to the BUDS to review the data. Has anyone seen a aftermarket code reader that will clear a code? Every few seconds I look down and see the word "failure" scroll across. I got enough of being called a failure by my parents, I don't need a constant reminder from my spyder!:lecturef_smilie:

I havent had a chance to have it diagnosed yet, but I was having an issue with brake failure messages too

:gaah:

I'm with you, Carol. I don't know if I would even start a trip with no "shake-down" on the fix. In addition to the brakes, they could cause other problems... wouldn't be the first time.

Personally, I'd tell them to take their time... fix it right... test it... repeatedly... and just use their loaner. A new wiring harness is a major deal. Everything has to be disconnected... and, hopefully... re-connected.

As far as putting it back together... liability would be HUGE if they knowingly gave you a bike back with a faulty braking system. Plus, BRP would only pay for one tear-down.
.
:agree:

Carol, how did you make out? Did they get you a ryde?

Thank you for caring ...the saga continues.
The parts were not ordered until Tuesday, and someone forgot to consult a calendar to see that Wed. was a national Canadian Holiday. No mail moved out. So no parts for my spyder. They now have to replace the entire wiring harness and Low pressure sensor. The dealership has gratefully lended me a silver spyder. I am sorry that I will not be able to show off my beautiful PE #1032 Spyder with the mods and disco lights (could not see them well during the day anyway). But I am very happy that I will be leaving tomorrow morning for Hollywood and that I can fully participate in all the fun stuff with "my" Spyder. Life is full of surprises, those that can roll with the punches seem to move further ahead. I am just gonna roll out to So Cal tomorrow. :ohyea::2excited:

Glad to hear you have a Spyder to ride. Better than taking a chance on those dodgy brakes. Have fun and ride safe :spyder:

I believe that this was the best for you, Carol. Have fun and be careful!

Back from the LA gathering, loved meeting everyone and enjoyed myself beyond words. Expected to hear a message left from the dealership that my bike was fixed and ready to go....no message. Guess I get to keep the 2009 a little longer...that's okay, we want to clean it up a bit first!

Received call that my spyder is ready. I will not be able to pickup until Friday....Spydroe...call Bob, he is at home, to arrange that meeting for the Silver Challenge.

I hope they really fixed it for you this time, Carol.

ME TOO!! :helpsmilie:

I could drive up sooner but if I pick it up Tues-Thurs, then I am time restricted (work interfers with everything). If I wait until Friday (Holiday at this job), I can toodle around Fresno and see if I can brake it before I leave. :f_spider:

continuing saga of PE1032...maybe it was the shoes?

Short version:
picked up bike on Friday, turned in loaner (clean, full of gas and Hollywood plate attached).
Drove my bike to gas station, and shopping -about two miles. Let bike cool down and drove another two miles. Called dealership.
Drove my bike back to dealership, picked up salesperson for second opinion/witness, drove bike another mile or so.
Drove bike back to dealership service dept., picked up loaner, apologized to everyone and drove loaner home.
Husband Bob said I should offer them $$ for the loaner, since it is "used" and lives here part time.

No brake issues yet, I am confident that was fixed. However, driving through gears 1-3, the bike pops, backfires and tries to die. I could not imagine how upset the service dept. was to see it return. I really feel sorry for them. Good news is there is not much left to replace. I hear that my bike and another PE have been a constant pain. Glad that one of the salepersons took the time to ride with me and verify that it was not my driving that caused the issue, they drove for less than a mile and it acted up worse for them. I had left Bob at home working on his HD, and confident that all was okay, return the demo, buy shoes and bring my bike home. GEEZE, I only bought 2 pair of tennys :cus:

Refresh my - our - memory. So..it was in for "brakes", but was it also in for anything related to the snap, crackle, and pop? Or is that just an added side effect of working on the braking issue?

Geez...

Pete

in response: while the bike was in for brake issues related to the lower brake sensor malfunction, the entire wiring harness was replaced due to some other mysterious issue. The brakes seemed fine when I picked up the bike, but they never gave me any problems until after I got home (whether this was coincidence, Karma, mileage or other reasons unknown). I found as soon as I drove more than a mile, filled up the gas tank, in 105 degree heat on crowded streets, the bike started acting like the engine was blown. Due to the wiring harness replacement; I would hope it was just something not hooked up correctly? :dontknow:
